We had the good fortune to stay at the Hotel Teatro di Pompeo for 5 nights (Sept 27-Oct 2 2008 and were extremely pleased with our choice. I had looked at many hotels in Rome but because of walking difficulties, wanted to be in the best spot for getting to all we wanted to see, and this hotel had a perfect location. Just a little way from the Campo di Fiori and not far from Navona and the Pantheon, there were plenty of good restaurants in close proximity for us to get to after a day of sightseeing.
Another "must" on our list was friendliness and helpfulness of the personnel, and we certainly found this here. We were given a city map which was much better than the Streetwise and other maps I had purchased, and all points we needed to know about were circled and explanations given. All of our questions were answered and a good variety of restaurants recommended, with offers to make reservations at the ones we chose. Paolo even called our airport transfer service to straighten out a problem as I was not sure I had made myself understood.
The breakfast was great and served in a fantastic room with stone walls, etc.
The room was large with a good-sized bathroom; there was a smaller room between those which could be used for a third person. It was very quiet at night.
I forgot my rule of not making any phone calls on hotel phones and was pleasantly surprised that this did not incur a huge fee.
Internet access is available for a small feeIf we have the chance to return to Rome, I will certainly stay here again.

I stayed here with my wife on our honeymoon in September 2008.

This part of Rome is my favorite area -- right in the middle of the oldest district. The hotel is itself almost next door to the Campo dei Fiori and is a quick walk to the Piazza Navona or Pantheon.

The room is not lavishly decorated, but was nice. It was also quite large, with an extra smaller bed we did not even use. There was no road noise (we got a top floor room facing the courtyard) and the air conditioning was fine.

The staff was hit and miss. Paolo and Simona were wonderful, especially Paolo, who is sweet, warm, energetic and helpful. However, a couple other front desk people were a lot stiffer and less helpful, almost making me feel like I was bothering them to ask them questions.

The breakfast was sufficient, and is served in a cozy setting in the ancient understructure.

The price is fairly high -- the highest of any hotel on our trip -- but I guess that is Rome.

My husband and I spent one night in a room in the annex. The location was excellent and the room was clean and charming. The breakfast was tasty and the staff was helpful. Our only complaint was that which we had with every hotel we stayed at in Italy, which was that the bed was not the most comfortable and rather than being one large bed it was two twin size beds pushed together.

We went to Rome at probably the worst time (August, hot & expensive) so the usual owners were away but the guy who was looking after it for them was a complete sweetie! He was very helpful and answered all questions & happily recommended local restaurants etc. The room was huge with fantastic air con and super clean. Plus we had an extra room with a single bed and bath towels which are a rarity (usually you only get small shower type towels). The view was of the top of the local church (nice to visit inside too) and we were at the back so it was really quiet!

I recommend this hotel for anyone, really good choice!

What a great place! Simona and Paolo were wonderful and went out of their way to make sure that our experience was a top-notch one. The rooms were clean and well appointed and the amenities were just fine. You cannot beat this location. There is no doubt we would return here if we ever went back to Rome. We heartily recommend this hotel!
