We found the hotel in Rick Steve's book, then checked out the reviews here. We were on a budget, so we had to ensure that we got what we needed for the money. And, we did !! It's a cute little hotel, located on the 2nd floor (3rd in US). Most of the time, the front door was locked, so you have to be buzzed in, which is good, because it's safe. The surrounding area was safe. Definitely clean. Room was made up everyday. Shower was small, but it should be ok if you don't move around much. Bed was comfortable. we didn't get backache. Room was quiet, but boy, once we closed the windows, all the outside noise was blocked 90%. Free wireless, so it's convenient for our iTouch. But, they do have a laptop you can use out on the lobby. Service was excellent. Thanks Gabriela (that's a he)!!! :-) Breakfast was good; croissant, chocolate croissat, yogurt, fruits, espresso made to order. There's a market across the street on Nazionale that was used a lot by us to get different items. Very convenient. Close to everything. There's reallly no complaint about this hotel. To get good eats, ask the hotel for recommendation. We got jibbed the first time, so we asked Gabriella for recommendations and we tried them all. There was one, don't remember the name, that we loved so much that we went back the 2nd time. Gabriela also had good tips on which place to go before the next, so that we could avoid the long lines. This saves us lots of time. You'd be walking a lot. Get the Roma Pass.
We'll miss Gabriela. He is fun to watch when he's talking. You'll know what I mean when you talk to him. :)
Rome now will always have a special place in our hearts, as we got engaged there !!! Will definitely be back. And we do, we'll definitely stay here again. Room 24, to be specific. Say, what is that 2nd looking toilet for? Forgot to ask when we were there. Since we didn't know what it was for, we didn't use it. :)
Don't change Hotel Italia! We'll be back.

The hotel is a 15 min. walk to the front of the train station and an easy walk to the Spanish Steps, Colosseum, The Pantheon, The Forum, just to mention a few. The bus to the Vatican is just around the corner. They had wonderful free maps at the front desk. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was on a quiet street and had free internet connection and a wonderful continental breakfast was included in the price. We expected the small rooms, but they were clean and quiet. We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to our friends.

We found this in a travel guide book. They came back with the best rate out of the three other hotels in their class. When we arrived, we were greated by a friendly staff and given a nice clean and quiet room. We found that we were within walking distance to many of Rome's attractions: Spanish Steps, Colosseum and The Pantheon to name a few. There are several nice cafe`s within a block or two. In retrospect, we knew we picked the right place to stay in Rome.

Stayed for two nights - not too far from the main train station, and on a quiet street in Rome. The room was small, but we weren't there to hang out in the room. The location is good - close to the Metro, the Roman Forum and yet still in a quiet location. Not many good restaurants in the area. There are two buildings for this hotel - we stayed in the room across the street from the main lobby. It was a pain to walk across the street for breakfast, but that was our only complaint. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and there was a computer that we could use - free of charge!

We stayed 6 nights in this hotel and were very happy with the choice. The location is great, the hotel is very clean , very friendly stuff. If you want ot see Rome mostly walking and come to a nice place in the evening to rest this hotel will be perfect choice and very good value for money. If some people are not happy about the breakfast ( saying it is not big enough) they should book a 4 or 5 star hotel .
Thank you all in the hotel ITALIA !
