My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this lovely little hotel (16-19 April) and will do so again when we visit Rome. I read many reviews before choosing Hotel Italia, and we were not disappointed in this final decision. While the room and bathroom are small, we knew that ahead of time, and since we were getting on a cruise ship soon, we didn't mind not being spoiled with a large room! Moreover, we were in our room so little that the tight space was no problem.

We loved the location, choosing it because of its proximity to Termini. But in actuality, it was close to everything for us. I do admit we are walkers, but aside from the Vatican (which we did walk to), the major sites in Rome are simply not that far away.

The staff at Hotel Italia is its strongest point. Sabrina was so friendly and helpful. One evening manager (wish I'd caught his name) was especially helpful. He'd seen that I was having trouble making phone calls from my room (I was now in the lobby on their free laptop - another nice touch), and he offered to make the call himself! He tried several times. Another staff immediately took care of some noisy girls in an adjoining room. We were impressed with all the staff, and the ones who help with the breakfast buffet were attentive as well. Great cappuccino, but do beware that the breakfast is fairly basic. It served us well, however, and if you need more, there's a grocery store across the street, which we used. Ricca Est is a terrific restaurant just a couple blocks away. We ate there twice, and we felt it was a good sign that locals were lined up to get in.

Take advantage of the free internet, travel books, terrific staff, and outstanding location.

The hotel has two buildings across the street from each other, and I had the chance to stay on both sides since I was in Rome twice through the course of my trip. In both instances, the rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast is a little leaner than at more expensive accommodations, but it met my needs. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the free internet access in the lobby was a nice touch. Located within talking distance of the main train station, the Repubblica subway stop and the Imperial forums, the hotel is a nice, budget location from which to explore Rome.

After looking at so many hotels and reading so many reviews here in tripadvisor, I chose Hotel Italia for my stay in Rome in my European tour. I was NOT disappointed. The room was on the small side but I was expecting this as it is the standard in this part of the world. Being in Rome for the first time, I was not sure of the location of this hotel relative to the tourist sights. When I arrived in the afternoon, I just walked around, got lost on the streets and did not expect to see the Colosseo quite close by.

The location is very convenient. I'm someone who usually do not like walking but once I knew where the hotel was, I practically walked back to the major tourist sights, like the Collosseo, the Forum, Piazza Venezia, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps to name a few. Arriving at the hotel, I'd recommend to walk from Repubblica Metro station, it would take you at most a good 10 mins. dragging your luggage with you. It is located on a side street from one of the major streets, Via Nazionale where a number of buses pass through yet a distance away that you would not hear any street noise. The hotel is on the first floor of the building, you need to get on the lift with your luggage. At the corner of Via Venezia and Via Nazionale, there is a grocery store called Desparo, where you can buy water and food. There is also a bookstore on Via Nazionale if you need to purchase a guide book! There is a good Trattoria Venezia right across the Hotel that serves very good pasta. And on the next street, Via Genova, there is a good restaurant and a cafe as well.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. And as mentioned on one of the reviews, the smiling waitress who served me tea each morning was very pleasant. Breakfast was included and it consisted of 3-4 kinds of bread (croissant, pastries, etc.), different kinds of spreads (cheese, jam, etc.), yogurt, good old cornflakes and tea, coffee or cappuccino.

Small details that made my stay here very pleasant were: free wifi internet, free use of their laptop at common area, availability of a a plug adapter, guide books you can borrow for free, ice, knowledgeable staff and a towel you can step on after a good shower.

Will be back at this hotel on my next trip to Rome.

My family of 4 adults stayed in a quad room for 3 nights. The room was adequate for 4 people, a little on the small side, but we do expect that, and we are in the room for so little time, that it is not that bad. It was quiet, the staff was accommodating and very friendly, the location was great and easy to get places. The breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit cocktail, sweet rolls, yogurt, juice, and coffee. If you are looking for a convenient, nice place to stay the Hotel Italia worked great for us!

Just returned from a lovely short break in Rome and we couldnt have chosen a better hotel. There were 6 of us travelling as a family and we were given 3 rooms over in the annexe across the street. This was absolutely no problem. The rooms were quite small but perfectly adequate for a good nights sleep after a long day sightseeing. The main thing is they were spotlessly clean. The staff were the nicest friendliest and most helpful we have come across on our travels and the smiling waitress who served the lovely cappucino each morning was very pleasant. We would definately recommend Hotel Italia to our friends. Thank you to all the staff for our lovely stay,
