I went for holidays to Rome with my mother. It is hard to say in one sentence how happy we were after our holidays at KHR. Everything was so perfect. Great location, beautiful hotel sides, wonderful views from the hotel window... Excellent staff and their service! That was a special occasion for my mother and the stay was some kind of a gift. I contacted Kathrin and she put a lot of efforts to make it wonderful. We got a lovely and so clean room and Alessia from the restaurant with her very professional team made sure that our stay was also very tasty! ;) Reception staff was very friendly and helpful! We also had a massage session... That was just a great end of our journey. Francesco was very friendly and professional as well. We just loved the place and people working there! We will definitely come back to KHR!

I appologise for the lateness of my review. I stayed at this hotel in November 2008 for 4 nights. For a city hotel the room was very spacious with everything you could require in a bathroom suplied on a daily basis if required. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff very helpfull. We had a courtyard room and even in mid November could leave the window open at night with no noise. The hotel is only a short walk from most of the main sites of interest. Restaurants are further away but still not a problem. The hotel reception sorted out a day trip to Naples and Pompeii. A trip to remember. All in all a great hotel in a good location. I tend never to go to the same hotel more than once but would happily stay here again.

You won't be disappointed if you choose the Kolbe Hotel. We stayed there for 3 nights in May/09 and had an excellent time.

The hotel is modern and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was very clean and the a/c was strong and quiet. There was a lcd tv with the standard 2 English speaking channels (CNN, BBC), an in-room safe and minibar. They also provided new slippers packaged in plastic which was a nice touch.

The buffet breakfast buffet consisted of fruits, cereals, breads, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts and bacon. The scrambled eggs were cooked properly and were not just steamed in a large pan like some other hotels that we stayed at in Italy.

The hotel was very close to the ancient ruins but it was a fair walking distance to the other sites north of the ruins.

Overall, we had a great experience and would stay there again.

We have stayed at the Kolbe many times. Our last visit was May 17th to the 20th for four nights. The Hotel was fantastic as usual.

The bedrooms are of good size. Ask for a room facing the garden at the back, even though the front rooms are facing a one way road, the noise from the cars driving over the cobbles can be a pain, but only if you go to bed EARLY and get up LATE and who is going to do that in Rome!!! When I have been in the front rooms in the past I had no problem as the road is quite at night and you have double glazing!!!

The rooms are well decorated and clean with nice comfortable beds. Nice size bathrooms as well. The smaller rooms are on the ground floors which just have shower cubicles but I have stayed in these as well and they perfectly comfortable.

Breakfast is great and sets you up for the day. If the weather is nice you eat outside in a lovely shaded area in the garden. The staff are very good and English speaking and they always help me with unofficial Italian lessons.

Why do I stay here every time I go to Rome? Well it is JUST outside all the main points of interest and yes it can be a pain walking a WHOLE TEN minutes to get around the block, but what a block…. And the pay off is the peace and quite of the Kolbe Hotel.

A good point to mention is to look the hotel up on Google Earth. See how for you are away from the main sites, take a note of them. Then go to lastminute.com. Look under secret hotels and go for the hotel which says it has Orange trees in the back garden and not far from the main sites (which you have taken notes from Google) then book it with a big discount!!!

Have a great stay in Rome.

Located on the historic, quiet, cobble-stoned V. di San Teodoro, just a block from the Arch of Janus and Piazza Bocca della Verita, this is a beautiful, comfortable, modern hotel. The hotel's featured photo shows the back side, with a large, lovely garden and fountain, which many of the rooms view. The front faces the fenced southwest side of the Palatine Hill. The walk to the Circus Maximus metro is about 3/4 mile, but the same distance walk in the other direction places you on the Campidoglio or at Trajan's Column. It would be nice if you could cut through the Forum to get to the Colosseum, but it's worth it to us to stay in such a nice hotel that close to the ancient sites. Also, we learned to use the buses more this trip...buy a three day pass and save your energy (pass also works on the metro and the train to Ostia). The bus stop is a block from the hotel.
The front desk staff are professional, English speaking, efficient, polite. The lobby is large, lots of glass, marble, brick, and views out to the garden. The hallways and rooms are very spacious, larger than U.S. hotels. We were dismayed at first that the air conditioning wasn't working, so I asked at the front desk, and the young man said "Oh, I will turn it on for your room". He pressed a button there at the front desk, and we had great a/c after that. Efficient, though it would be nice if we didn't have to ask for it to be turned on.
Everything is new, clean, designed for comfort of the traveler. We did not hear other guests. Lovely restaurant where a very nice breakfast is included with the room. The prices on the menu for dinners seemed high, and there good restaurants nearby (several along the V. di Portico di Octavia, a three block walk), so we didn't eat dinner there. However, I peeked into the window of the kitchen (along the front of the hotel) and it was immaculate, good to know.
We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.
