“Lovely hotel, and great restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

We stayed here for four nights and overall we were impressed, but also a bit disappointed! Our room, overlooked the garden and had mezzanine floor where my daughters slept - air conditioning was very efficient - too efficient at times as we were cold downstairs but girls still v warm upstairs! We ate two meals in the restaurant - a seafood barbecue which was divine and meal off normal menu that was very good. Both meals and service were very good, but pricey! We were given a glass of prosecca on entering restaurant and a glass of limoncello at end of meal at no charge - the waiting staff were lovely - especially Alyssa who went out of her way to make sure that our meal and experience in restaurant and bar was exceptional!
The minor disappointments were that we had ants in our room and faulty shower, which the staff dealt with immediately but not what we expected in such an establishment, and also we were disappointed with reception staff on our last day - violent thunderstorms and torrential rain soaked us to the skin, but reception staff were not very forthcoming to our request for somewhere to get changed (we had already checked out and were returning to collect our luggage before going to airport) - we ended up travelling home in wet clothes!
Overall we would recommend this hotel and would stay again, but not with our daughters as it is a little far out an there are no decent restaurants close by that were open!

Room Tip: Rooms with garden view are lovely

We stayed at the Hotel Kolbe as it had great reviews and the price was within budget. With this being our first trip to Rome understanding location etc was difficult however this hotel and it's location was great. It's a little far to walk from the metro with cases, especially in 30degree temperatures but other than that it was a great location. The Roman Forum was right outside your front door and within easy walk to most of the attractions. Breakfast was great too. I just couldn't couldn't complain at all. Each night we either walk around the corner to our 'local' In Roma or wandered over the Tiber to Trastevere for dinner. Great buzz about the place and great value, away from Rome's main drag. The only place you really need a bus to is The Vatican , Rome's a beautiful city to see on foot though the bus tours are great too. Back to the hotel, rooms are beautiful, modern and clean. This would certainly be my hotel of choice if and when I return to Rome. Only thing I'd do differently is take a taxi from Termini to the hotel. At €10/12 it's money we'll spent. X

My darling husband and I stayed at Kolbe Hotel for 10 nights - we had an absolutely fantastic time. The staffs really go above and beyond what I have come to expect. Valerio with his wonderful personality made us feel so welcome and accommodated our requests, Ricardo excellent service. Plus Elena and Francesca as well - always helpful. The restaurant staffs deserve a gold star - Alessia, Mauricio plus brother and the amazing chef – perfect service and excellent sense of humor. Food is great - eat at hotel. Breakfast has great selection of goodies. Free internet. Location is perfect – walking distance to major attractions. That feeling of déjà vu – holiday is over. 

Room Tip: Better book the room via the hotel website to see what you are getting. Our room over looked the Pal...

Very good standard in every sense. The only slight issue is lack of control over room temperature, but reception can change this.

Lovely location close to the Forum and Colosseum. Note that thare is a limited amount of restaurants/bars close-by, but there are two bars that serve food in the area.

The staff were fantastic.

Just had a five night stay at The Kolbe Rome Hotel. We arrived early so our room wasn't ready but we checked in and they stored our luggage while we went for a stroll round and lunch. The room was very nice and spacious and spotlessly clean. We had a room overlooking the street and although some people had said it was noisy at night we didn't have any problems at all.
Staff were very nice and helpful and willing to help any way they could.
We only ate lunch there once but the food was nice and we thought reasonably priced.
It's in a nice peaceful area but not too far from all the sites.
Would certainly recommend it to friends.

We stayed at the Kolbe during our trip to Rome in January 2013. It was our second location to stay for the trip and it was a little disappointing. I chose it based on the pictures and location near the Roman Forum, but it ultimately reminds me of any other hotel I have stayed at. It just wasn't special. No real complaints except there was no hot water in the shower.

Huge hotel room for Europe and the best meal (gnocchi with mushrooms and steak) we had the whole time we were in Rome. Excellent server in bar/restaurant. The multiple shower heads in the bathroom are pretty much useless unless you want to literally drench the entire bathroom. The bed was a little stiff. The bakery down the street has well priced, delicious croissants. Appears to be a favorite of locals. Drawback was the lack of multiple restaurants super close to hotel. Bring your walking shoes!
