“Excellent boutique lodging”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We stayed in an apartment for a few days which was clean, quaint and safe. It included a bedroom, small kitchen and bathroom. When we returned to Rome a few weeks later we stayed in the hotel which was absolutely beautiful! Brightly painted and filled with antiques - loved it! The breakfast area was also gorgeous and the food plentiful.
The roof area is spectacular!
Everyone who works at the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful - helped make the stay more enjoyable.
The location is also very good for walking to all the tourist spots.
Definitely recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: each room is different and from the pix they all look gorgeous

Dear guest,
“Excellent boutique lodging”

I find your review very interesting for two simple reasons,
1.) You stayed with us twice during your stay and for both times you state,

“loved it!”.

This is truly pleasurable because this means it wasn’t just a first impression but a real impression! Twice!

2.)You stayed in both our apartments and hotel rooms and have had nothing but positive things to say as here indicated,

“apartment for a few days which was clean, quaint and safe.”, “weeks later we stayed in the hotel which was absolutely beautiful! Brightly painted and filled with antiques - loved it! The breakfast area was also gorgeous and the food plentiful”.

What more can one desire? This review in reality is worth 2 and not just one!

You also appreciated our roof top terrace which all of our guests may use stating,

“The roof area is spectacular!”

Our personnel is always there to assist, suggest and see to it that you don’t just have a vacation with us but that your stay with us remains a lifetime experience and that whenever you will think of Rome in the future, you will always think positively also thanks to Hotel Campo de’ Fiori.
To conclude using your title,

“Excellent boutique lodging” and with your concluding phrase, “Definitely recommend this hotel!”

Thank you for your kind words and hope to be able to host you once again if you ever decide to come to Rome!

Best Regards,
F. Severino

Dear Guest,

As they say in Italy, “Poche parole buon intenditore” meaning,
Few words but with good intentions! This is your review. Short and to the point. Some of your indications,

“excellent service”, “clean and tidy”,” romantic”, “beautiful roof garden “.

Regarding your “2 forgotten coats”, which we didn’t have you pay anything showing that for us it’s not as to many other hotels only an economical aspect. For us it’s a global view of a stay and at number one for us is that you were not just happy but that you were totally pleased!

Warmest regards

We stayed for three days and found the hotel to be better than “as advertised.” Clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff (Thanks for all your help Mateo – splendid English speaker), and you cannot beat the location. Breakfast was very good as well, the attendant there (forgot her name –sorry) was excellent, cheerful and made some great cafe. Highly recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest,

“Great Place To Stay”

Your words although few are precise and to the point! Your title covers all aspects of your stay with us and we couldn’t hope for more!
Your stay was not a one or two night stay but a three night stay therefore it was not a hit and run situation but you were able to size up all the aspects of your stay and I do like your conclusion,

“the hotel to be better than “as advertised.”
Our rooms are all newly renovated and we see to it that they remain new and clean as you state. Our staff bases itself on its’ cultural and language level meaning all of the staff are of University degree level.

You also refer to the fact that our staff is friendly and helpful. I would also like to highlight that our staff are all specialized in foreign languages, who in English, who in French others in Spanish and German.

I do appreciate that you recommend our hotel to others as stated,
“Highly recommend this hotel.”

Warmest regards,
F. Severino

Stayed in apartment C1 (2 adults, 2 children) for 3 nights. The location was absolutely fantastic - walkable to Vatican, Colosseum and Spanish Steps - even for the 8 year old - and above a great bakery. The apartment (double bedroom plus open plan room with 2 beds & kitchenette, no view) was clean, beautiful and plenty big enough (even for 6' teenager) with everything you could need. There was a little street noise at nights - but hey, you are in the very centre of Rome!!! The hotel staff were lovely and helpful, from arranging a tour to recommending all the best gelato spots (we visited most of these!) I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return.

Dear guest,
“fabulous!”
A title that speaks for itself referring to your experience staying with us at Hotel Campo de’ Fiori. You stayed in one of our apartments which are all located within a 1 minute walk away from the hotel. All of our apartments such as yours are spacious, clean with all modern comforts ranging from A/C to Free WiFi to daily cleaning by our chambermaids.
Our staff is always there to assist and suggest to all of our guests only the elite that is offered in a city which offers all that one can expect and at a normal rate.
They are there to suggest as you state only the best gelaterias, restaurants, tours (private as well as group). You would love to come back and stay with us and we would love to host you when you decide to come back to Rome.
Thank you also for the recommendation!

we were staying in the first floor, in an apartment overlooking the piazza. we woke up in the morning to see people setting up their fruit stalls in varied hues of red, green, yellow luscious colours. as the first light of day peeped in, the sellers would bring to life the square by propping up huge umbrellas and wheeling in their goods. when we went to sleep, the piazza would be buzzing with hurrying feet of waiters, restaurant owners cajoling diners to step in, lights dancing at each table and people enjoying life whether at the tables or outside. the breakfast was delicious at this hotel, the staff was courteous and helpful and our stay was very comfortable. they also suggested good guides for our "roman holiday".

Room Tip: room just overlooking the piazza although some might find it noisy. we didn't.

Dear Guest,
Your title is a surrealistic suggestion,
“it was a dream”

This title implements all and even more! Your description is so colorful and I can almost see all of the hustle and bustle that you refer to as well as all of the colors that one can imagine reading your description. What is amazing is that your description doesn’t exaggerate at all what you saw. I would just like to add that along with all of the colors that you refer to one must also remember the sweet smell of the fresh fruit and the fresh bread!

Rome as well as Campo de’ Fiori is this and more! Life never stops from early in the morning to the evening and this is what makes the centre of ancient Rome so appealing. It blends Ancient life with contemporary life.

We do our best to make all of our guests “"roman holiday" a dream.

Warmest regards,
F. Severino

We stayed in Rome for 7 days and I looked for a location that was somewhat central to the major sites we wanted to see (Colosseum, Vatican, river, Piazza Navona, Spanish steps, and Fiori). We couldn't have chosen a better facilitator for this, Hotel Campo De' Fiori. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us, including the desk staff and the staff that maintained our 4 room + bath apartment. As we had a long stay, they placed us a block away from Piazza Fiori as it can be quite noisy, It was still noisy in apartment G2, but the piazza would have been even louder. Rome is a major city and like other major cities we've been to in Europe, people are actively engaged into the wee hours of the morning. The location of the apartment was near small grocery stores as well as the wonderful daily market where fresh produce was sold. We were able to buy all we needed for two adults. The restaurants along the square were also excellent, each one a bit different. We also ate away from the square, looking for different types of Italian food most of the time.

The rooftop garden is in the main hotel, located 2 minutes away, if that. It has a pleasant view over most of Rome, lovely at night. It took 30 minutes of a moderate walk to get to the Colosseum area, and about 45 minutes to get to the entrance of the Vatican museum, or 35 minutes to get to St Peter's.

The hotel set up a personal driver to pick us up and take us to the airport, costing less than a cab. For a family of four, this would be ideal. The drivers were on time and cordial and in our case both cars were comfortable Mercedes Benz.

The cost was excellent considering you are in one of the more active and centrally located part of a capital city. The cost of a Chicago hotel in downtown is almost twice what we paid, and that is comparing a small hotel room to a very nice apartment. The AC/heater worked well, with three units throughout the apartment, each individually controllable. The bathroom was modern and in this case, it had only a shower that was clean and sufficient. Antiques dotted the apartment, and the bed, which they call a double, is actually close to a king size. It was a poster bed as well. There was plenty of space for storage with the fourth room that can serve to place luggage and other items to store, such as children's toys. There were wood floors or laminate flooring throughout the apartment.

There was an entrance to an open air "lounge" off of the apartment where one can smoke. There is no scenic view in this area as you are on the 2nd (for America) floor of a 3 story building, I think it was-- maybe 4.

The kitchen was more than a "corner." It lacked a microwave and stove, but had a four burner, modern gas stove top and a half-high refrigerator-freezer with about 1/4 the space found in an American home. But then again, it is unlikely that you'll be eating all meals at the apartment and there is easy access to daily food shopping.

Bathroom and bed linens were provided. There were no paper towels in the kitchen if that is important to you. The kitchen came stocked with service for five, and soap and a sponge. There was a Moka espresso pot (cook on the stove), coffee, sugar, tea bags, nice pots and pans, and serving utensils and bowls.

Sleep quality is rated very good as the bed, pillows, and blankets were quite comfortable and very clean, but the noise level was still high due to the narrow street lined with buildings-- sound ricocheted. And you are living in a building with families who live in Rome full time, and all that apartment living brings with it--but that is living like an Italian!!! The windows are new and modern, but perhaps the windows facing the street should have included sound proofing of some type. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper or go to bed early.

There is no hotel restaurant or swimming pool. There is an area for breakfast below street level, but we did not use it as we were in an apartment.

Room Tip: As we rented an apartment, hard to say. I think you should be specific about any handicaps (there ar...

Dear Guest,
After having read your very descriptive and elaborate review I noticed that you have captured the essence of a stay with us. The centrality of the location permits one to understand and live as the Romans live today. What can be only a vacation becomes a cultural experience and will remain as a lifetime memory. Our apartments recently renovated with all modern comforts including free WiFi, Flat LCD Tvs, sound proof windows, A/C, daily cleaning by our chambermaids etc..
We see to it that our guests have no worries while with us already finding all the necessities that one needs while staying away from home. Our staff always there to assist and guide seeing to it that a normal vacation becomes a cultural experience.
Useless elaborating on your review since it is almost a day to day sequence. Thank you for having taken so much time out to write your review because the length of the review in itself demonstrates that you were totally pleased with all that we offered. Hope to have you with us once again if you ever decide to return to Rome.
Warmest regards,

Adorable hotel in the middle of everything we wanted to see in Rome - but they clean with vinegar, which can stink up the halls - the ONLY downside to this wonderful little hotel. Our room was small (1 bedroom without balcony, double bed) but ornately decorated and had a new, modern bathroom with glass shower stall. The hotel has an elevator which goes up to all but the top floor. They have a lovely, large breakfast spread in a beautiful room with light classical music playing. Breakfast includes any kind of coffee you want, pastries, bread, cheeses, coldcuts, I think some hot dishes and maybe more. Our room was quiet and overlooked another building next door, which was okay because the hotel has an outstanding high, rooftop terrace; you get a full 360 degree view of Rome! However, smoking (including cigars) is allowed up there; another guest "treated" us to the stink of his cigar for one full evening. I would recommend no smoking - or at least no cigar smoking - be allowed up there as everyone loves to go to the terrace. The concierges spoke beautiful English and were so nice and helpful; as we did not have a car in Rome, upon our request, they ordered cars to bring us from and back to the airport and cabs for around town, gave us great directions, recommended some good places to eat and made reservations for us, and set up up a private tour for my husband and me (on foot) - of the Jewish ghetto, the Coliseum and Roman forum for us - fantastic! Our tour guide's name was Reena, is a native Brit and English-speaker, is extremely knowledgeable and basically delightful; if she is still in Rome, ask for her if you speak English. It was money extremely well spent. We also discovered that in the stairwell between the main level and basement (where b'fast is served) are ancient columns around which the building was built. The only real downside of the hotel is that they clean with vinegar, and the halls can reek of the vinegar smell; I tend to be very sensitive to smells. Our room never smelled, but the towels always had a faint odor of vinegar. I know it's "green," but yuck. Even with the vinegar smell, next time I'm in Rome, I will stay there again!!

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the top floor - the elevator does not go all the way up, and I imagine that the...

Dear Guest,
“Great hotel, great location”

When one uses the word “Great” there is nothing else that can be said! Thank you for the review highlighting many aspects of the hotel such as,

“Adorable hotel, large breakfast spread in a beautiful room with light classical music playing, concierges spoke beautiful English and were so nice and helpful, recommended some good places to eat and made reservations for us, and set up up a private tour for my husband and me (on foot) - of the Jewish ghetto, the Coliseum and Roman forum for us, ordered cars to bring us from and back to the airport and cabs for around town and the list continues…

Our hotel in reality is a historical monument in itself dating back between the 1200 and 1400’s and as you state that one of our concierge showed you, between the ground floor and the first floor one may see and touch directly fringes and columns coming from the ancient roman Theatre of Pompey where Julius Caesar was assassinated! These archeological pieces were found in the basement of the hotel while being constructed in the 1200’s!

We utilize vinegar mixed with a cleaner for cleaning because it is a natural anti calcareous product and Rome having a water with a high calcareous level this is necessary. The order may be at times abit strong but it is healthy!
“next time I'm in Rome, I will stay there again!!
This last phrase concludes a nice review. Thank you.
Best regards,
F. Severino
