What a great place. Our room was lovely, very clean and the added bonus of complementary water in the room was just a great bonus. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great. We couldn't figure out the tram/bus schedule (our fault), and it was a walk to the metro but we always felt safe and had no problems. The great thing about this place was the location. We drove in from the north and found our way right to this hotel without having to drive through the heart of Rome. I can't tell you how many gray hairs that saved me! Plus there was a parking garage affiliated with the hotel, so we could just leave our car there for the three nights and not worry about it!

Just enjoyed a long weekend in Rome, staying at Hotel Astrid. We had a very pleasant stay - everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable, our rooms were on the top floor and were therefore quiet at night. The highlights were the lovely breakfast taken on the open terrace with great views and the exceptionally friendly and helpful receptionist, who was happy to book us in for meals at local restaurants, order taxis when required and sell us tram tickets, all with a smile! Only disappointment was that the roof terrace was not open in the evening for drinks as we expected. If we return to Rome, we would prefer to stay in the city centre next time - however that is in no way a reflection on Hotel Astrid. We knew from their website that it was on the outskirts but we did find the travelling a little tedious in very hot temperatures! Don't bother with metro and tram to reach hotel from the station terminus - just hop in a taxi, it isn't worth the hassle! Lovely hotel if you dont mind using trams, taxis or walking a long way!

  • Liked — Breakfast on the terrace
  • Disliked — Distance from centre

Stayed six nights at the Astrid while seeing Rome sights. We flew in to Fiumicino where we had arranged a car service that took us straight to the hotel. It took about a half an hour in a late night traffic. On our way back we used tram-metro-train combination which worked just find with not a lot walking required.

Astrid is three tram stops from Piazza del Popolo in a quiet residential neighborhood. The distance is definitely within walking distance but the heat may direct you to use tram. Within a block there are several restaurants that do not have a touristy feeling meaning the food is good, moderately priced served with friendly service. Also the small grocery store on your way to tram stop has very attractive prices for instance for water bottles.

The room was decent in size, two people could open their luggage without too much problems. Air conditioning has controls in the room and is very efficient. Our room had a view of the Tiber river.

In the rooms there are is a free minibar with soda, water and juice. Also free wireless internet connection is available by asking for username and password from front desk.

The staff all around was very helpful and especially the cleaning service was of very high standard. The included breakfast is served on a very nice terrace and consists of pastries, bread, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee/tea. The staff makes a very nice cappuccino on request.

Overall I would recommend the hotel if you are willing to walk or use the tram to reach it. Everything in the hotel was what I expect from a three star hotel and I quite enjoyed the quiet area and the nice restaurants.

My wife, 10 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Astrid for a week during our recent visit to Rome. Other than not having hot water on the first morning of our stay, we found the Astrid to be a quite pleasant hotel. The staff is friendly, the maid service was excellent, and the morning breakfasts were a great way to start our daily treks. We had a nicely appointed triple room consisting of a double bed and a separate single bed (there was also chair which could fold out into an additional bed). This was the most sleeping space we have had during any European vacation (including stays at Marriott hotels in Paris). Access to the frigo-bar was free and included daily Cokes, Fanta, and bottled water.

The hotel is situated in a pleasant area with a number of Pizzerias and Restaurants. Proximity to the nearby #2 tram provides quick access to the Flaminio metro station and nearby attractions such as Villa Borghese. We would not hesitate to stay at the Astrid again.

It is a decent hotel. It's slightly away from the center of Rome, but is easily accessible via the tram. The rooms were clean and fairly spacious. Also, there's a great view of Vatican city from the breakfast home.
