Stayed six nights at the Astrid while seeing Rome sights. We flew in to Fiumicino where we had arranged a car service that took us straight to the hotel. It took about a half an hour in a late night traffic. On our way back we used tram-metro-train combination which worked just find with not a lot walking required.

Astrid is three tram stops from Piazza del Popolo in a quiet residential neighborhood. The distance is definitely within walking distance but the heat may direct you to use tram. Within a block there are several restaurants that do not have a touristy feeling meaning the food is good, moderately priced served with friendly service. Also the small grocery store on your way to tram stop has very attractive prices for instance for water bottles.

The room was decent in size, two people could open their luggage without too much problems. Air conditioning has controls in the room and is very efficient. Our room had a view of the Tiber river.

In the rooms there are is a free minibar with soda, water and juice. Also free wireless internet connection is available by asking for username and password from front desk.

The staff all around was very helpful and especially the cleaning service was of very high standard. The included breakfast is served on a very nice terrace and consists of pastries, bread, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee/tea. The staff makes a very nice cappuccino on request.

Overall I would recommend the hotel if you are willing to walk or use the tram to reach it. Everything in the hotel was what I expect from a three star hotel and I quite enjoyed the quiet area and the nice restaurants.

My wife, 10 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Astrid for a week during our recent visit to Rome. Other than not having hot water on the first morning of our stay, we found the Astrid to be a quite pleasant hotel. The staff is friendly, the maid service was excellent, and the morning breakfasts were a great way to start our daily treks. We had a nicely appointed triple room consisting of a double bed and a separate single bed (there was also chair which could fold out into an additional bed). This was the most sleeping space we have had during any European vacation (including stays at Marriott hotels in Paris). Access to the frigo-bar was free and included daily Cokes, Fanta, and bottled water.

The hotel is situated in a pleasant area with a number of Pizzerias and Restaurants. Proximity to the nearby #2 tram provides quick access to the Flaminio metro station and nearby attractions such as Villa Borghese. We would not hesitate to stay at the Astrid again.

It is a decent hotel. It's slightly away from the center of Rome, but is easily accessible via the tram. The rooms were clean and fairly spacious. Also, there's a great view of Vatican city from the breakfast home.

We stayed for just one night, a group of 15 on a quick trip to Rome. The staff were wonderful, always happy, smiling and full of fun. They gave advice freely and arranged a lunch for us all at a nearby restaurant. The rooms were small but perfectly adequate, nice bathrooms, good air conditioning. It's a ten minute cab ride from town costing between 7-10 euro a trip, reception will phone for a cab for you. The breakfast is great, it is taken on a terrace room on the upper floor.

We would stay there again.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel, rooms were small but clean and room service cleaned everyday, topping up the free minibar - no alcohol!! and left us sweets! The rooftop terrace was great for pre dinner cocktails and a nightcap. Staff were great, very helpful and reccommended a good traditional roma restaurant just round the corner where we enjoyed dinner on our first night. Hotel not very conveniently located, but not that far from central rome once you get familar with the trams and as its located on overlooking the Tiber is possible to walk on a sunny day. Will stay in a more central location on our next visit, but would stay here again. Tip. Check out opening times of Sistine Chapel as it was closed when we got there on Saturday afternoon at 3pm!! and it closes on Sundays in February!
