Stayed six nights at the Astrid while seeing Rome sights. We flew in to Fiumicino where we had arranged a car service that took us straight to the hotel. It took about a half an hour in a late night traffic. On our way back we used tram-metro-train combination which worked just find with not a lot walking required.
Astrid is three tram stops from Piazza del Popolo in a quiet residential neighborhood. The distance is definitely within walking distance but the heat may direct you to use tram. Within a block there are several restaurants that do not have a touristy feeling meaning the food is good, moderately priced served with friendly service. Also the small grocery store on your way to tram stop has very attractive prices for instance for water bottles.
The room was decent in size, two people could open their luggage without too much problems. Air conditioning has controls in the room and is very efficient. Our room had a view of the Tiber river.
In the rooms there are is a free minibar with soda, water and juice. Also free wireless internet connection is available by asking for username and password from front desk.
The staff all around was very helpful and especially the cleaning service was of very high standard. The included breakfast is served on a very nice terrace and consists of pastries, bread, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee/tea. The staff makes a very nice cappuccino on request.
Overall I would recommend the hotel if you are willing to walk or use the tram to reach it. Everything in the hotel was what I expect from a three star hotel and I quite enjoyed the quiet area and the nice restaurants.
