First the bad: Expected air conditioning but the hotel turns it off at the beginning of October because they expect it won't be needed. This necessitates opening the windows for cooling on warm days and that eliminates any possibility of a peaceful stay. The hotel is on a major busy road, so the traffic noise is loud and constant. For the first 2 nights the neighbors alarm kept going off all (I repeat, ALL) night long. To add to the traffic and alarm noise, our room was directly adjacent to the outdoor garden eating/smoking area, so we had that added nuisance all evening. If you stay here, take earplugs, you'll need them. We wouldn't have slept at all without them. The bedspread on the bed was filthy and smelly, but when we put it outside the room, they replaced it with a clean one. Each room seems to be different in size and shape, from tiny to fairly large. Our bathroom was closet size, but I saw 2 others that were more spacious.
But there were some positive things: Enrico, the desk clerk was very gracious, friendly, and helpful. The other staff members were fine too but not quite as personable as Enrico. The breakfast was very nice in looks, taste, and presentation. We enjoyed it very much.
There is a wonderful restaurant with GREAT pizza about 8 minutes walk away. There is a small church with catacombs about 5 minutes away that was worth visiting.
