“Staff was kind, but couldnt make up for rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Kind staff.
Room was spacious.
Bathrooms were old.
They control the air.
It was hot, never cooled down enough.
Unable to sleep at night due it it being hot and uncomfortable.
Good location, walking distance to sites nearby.
Short 10 minute cab ride to Colosseum and minutes from the Vatican.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights Mid July. The rooms were reasonable in size with high ceilings. Upon arrival the receptionist was very warm, hospitable and allowed us to check in one room that was ready earlier than stated. The free wifi was limited to 2 connections/room depsite us having a room for 3. Breakfast was good consisting of scrambled eggs and bacon. Would have liked fresh cut up fruit. Coffee was delicious. The location is on a quiet street. We did enjoy a particular restaurant nearby. 15 minute walk to the Vatican and also to Piazza Poppolo. Also short distance to the train. Walkable from Hard Rock Cafe at Via Veneto.

The hotel was tidy and clean, the room was nice and the mattress was lovely as mentioned previously. I had advised it was a special trip so we had a complimentary drink on arrival which was a nice touch. We had 316 which basically looked over a internal courtyard and had no direct view. The breakfast never changed, the only hot choice being soggy bacon and scrambled egg. I personally found the staff at the reception to be a bit aloof. We checked out at 12 and had a wait until our pre-arranged transfer and when I asked why I couldn't get any wifi I was told it was because I checked out and that was it. If you have anything to do online make sure you do it before you leave. We took the hotel up on their offer of a chauffeur transfer which was lovely on the way in and only 7 euros more than the taxis advertised. Unfortunately on the return they had an issue (read forgot) and were late so we then had a high octane ride back, halving the time it took us to get there. If you just want a base this hotel is fine, it's close to the river and castle and most amenities, just don't expect to be wowed.

Room Tip: 316 was at the end of a little corridor containing 4 rooms. We could hear the lift up and down regu...

We stayed for four nights for our anniversary. We had a wonderful receptionist on arrival who could not have been more helpful. Our room was gorgeous, not the largest but clean, airy and comfortable. We were impressed. We had a bottle of prosecco left in our room courtesy of the hotel for our special visit. Breakfast was lovely and catered for all needs. The staff were friendly and helpful and would do all they could to assist. The main advantage to this hotel is the location - it could not have been better for our visit, we did not need a taxi other than to and from the airport. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend to our family and friends. Look forward to re-booking.

We stayed at the Dei Mellini for 3 nights from 25th to 28th July. The hotel is absolutely fantastic, the staff could not have been more helpful, they were friendly, courteous and really took the time to ensure our stay was perfect. I booked the hotel as a surprise for my boyfriends 30th birthday, the hotel went the extra mile and put an ice bucket with wine in our room on his birthday with a lovely note wishing him a great day. Little touches like that made the trip even more special. The facilities at the hotel were fantastic, especially the sun terrace. The hotel is great for location, 10 minutes from the Spanish steps and the shopping streets nearby, 20 minutes from the trevi fountain and 15 minutes from the basilica and Vatican city. I cannot recommend the hotel enough, our room was always imaculately cleaned. If you are looking for an excellent hotel I would definitely book Dei Mellini

This is a nice, conveniently located hotel that is clean and quiet but they charge for everything. You would think that after paying for two rooms (we traveled with our kids) at $500+ a night we would at least get internet! They even charged us a per minute fee for toll free calls when we had to call the US. A/C only works when the keycard is in the slot so after a long day out, it took forever to cool down the room. in fact, we called and they never checked to see if there was a problem with our unit. Otherwise the staff was professional and courteous.

Room Tip: Make sure your a/c is working because they turn off when you leave the room with the key card.
