Beautiful rooms - but be careful to order breakfast...

Great location and beautiful room - very small but well designed (although it may have seemed too small if we'd stayed longer, as we were only there for one night). We stayed in Tommy's Room. Helpful staff - he let us check in early and on the first day and pick up our bags late on the day we checked out, and was happy to recomment restaurants and call to book for us. We were a little surprised to be told that breakfast was not included in the price, as we had thought it was when we booked, but didn't bother to argue. You also have to order breakfast by filling in a form the night before which we had not been told! But a breakfast disaster was easily averted - we simply went and had a coffee and croissant in a cafe in the square.

The location is the best - close to all the shopping, restaurants, metro and most attractions. Given the location, it is good value based on my research. The interiors were tastefully decorated. WiFi was sporadic though. The windows once closed insulated most of the noise. The bathroom was not in the same room, but it did not pose a problem, as the common areas are not busy. The only thing missing was a clock radio or CD player for listening to music. Overall, I would recommend the accomodations.

I originally wrote this review back in September, but it was posted on the "Casa Howard Florence site" instead of Rome - I did ask Tripadvisor to change it to Rome but ... guess I'll do it myself ... I stayed for one night in the Tommy Room at the Via Sistina property, and found it far too small ... even for one! It was very hot and the air conditioning wasn't working (but they had told me that at the outset). With the luxurious heavy silk fabric decor it was extremely claustrophic, and too hot. This is one of the rooms with its own ensuite bathroom, that is if you don't mind climbing over the bed to get to it. The following day I was moved to the Capo le Case property to the White Room. Once again, the decor was stunning and very luxurious complete with a 4-poster bed which was very comfortable. The air-conditioning was good and didn't go off at night. Although on the street, the room was very quiet to outside traffic noises due to the double-glazed windows, but a siesta to break up the very long hot days was impossible due to the noise from the apartment upstairs, at times loud music and most afternoons, the sound of a child running backwards & forwards on timber floors. The bathroom, although private with a key was down the hall, a long way from the room. The staff were very helpful and kept the property absolutely spotless, although I felt that at the end of my stay (about 5 days), they expected a tip, and as this wasn't forthcoming I detected a bit of a "cold shoulder" which was a shame. If you like the "guest house" alternative then this is a wonderful option.

We stayed in Blue Room in Capo le Case. Beautiful room. First time we've stayed in a room with bathroom down the hall, but this wasn't an issue at all. The room is just above a busy corner near Spanish Steps. Traffic is fairly loud but bed is very comfortable, curtains are heavy, and we were tired enough each night to sleep well. Hotel staff are hands-off, but available and very helpful when needed. Hotel's 'high-speed' wireless isn't very high speed. It's okay for email, but another guest tried Skype call and couldn't make it work. Good restaurants nearby. I can't believe I'm saying this, but for breakfast we recommend the Macdonalds hidden near the Spanish Steps. Very good brioches, cappuccino. Also be sure to stop at Caffe Greco, though expensive. Their pistacchio torte is amazing.
