We were relieved upon arrival. The hotel was nice, clean, and modernly updated. It has the slight feel of a big chain hotel, but on a smaller scale. Plenty of attendants at the front desk, all looking sharp and professional. By American standards, not the friendliest; there is an air of snootiness coming from most, with the exception of one or two at best. The buffet is decent. The coffee is delicious!~! cold cereals, pastries, canned fruit, yogurt and deli meats. Their eggs are SCARY looking. Actually, everything on the hot table is. I must say though, the dining room attendants were all very very nice. The room was typically small, but very very clean. Newer furniture, bedding, carpet, bathroom, bidet.... all in excellent condition. We had some honeymooners next door, and so we (my mom and I) found out how very thin their walls are! Beware if you're checking in with kids. While there is a computer in the lobby with internet service, it does NOT work. I paid 5 euros for a 30 minute ticket, and was only able to compose email; couldn't open my email, and the system kept freezing. They said it was non-refundable. The neighborhood is nice, and several piazzas are within a 10-15 minute walk. A bus stop is a 5 minute walk away. Noises aside, we would probably stay here again.. next time we'll ask for some quiet neighbors.

I highly recommend this hotel. I found the staff to be extremely helpful, professional and friendly, including the front desk attendants and the bartenders. The rooms are large and very clean. It is a modern hotel in walking distance to many main sites. There are many wonderful restaurants located within walking distance of the hotel. Every restaurant that the staff recommended was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was large with lots of different choices.

Located just on the other side of the river near the Former Hall of Justice, this hotel is in a very good location. You will spend less here than for something comparable near the Trevi Fountain or Piazza Navona. The front desk staff was superb, the bartender not so much. It's a newer structure (thus very clean) surrounded by some great eateries. Although you come to Rome or the Italian food, there isn't much diversity if you occasionally crave something else. Very close to the hotel is a superb Japanese restaurant. The breakfast was better than expected. Lastly, I don't mind paying for the Internet, but I wish they had a terminal in every room or more than one in the lobby, given that it's a new hotel.

We stayed at the Visconti Palace Hotel based on a friends recommendation and reading many of the "good" reviews for this hotel. However, I doubt we would stay here again. The staff were completely snobbish and arrogant to us and we (I believe) were great customers (quiet, no requests, did our thing, followed the rules, etc...etc.) BUT we were looked at like non-classy people as we had our Merrills on for walking and cargo pants...Sorry guys...I'm not wearing pumps and elegant attire to walk 5 miles! The staff gave us the once over and turned their heads as to not acknowledge us. A No No in my book. The door man would not even open the door for us! Shame on you guys!

The Visconti Palace is an excellent option for your stay in Rome. It feels very Americanized, so it's great for business travel, if it misses the European charm. The rooms are downright huge by European standards, queen beds, nice work space. The hotel staff speaks excellent English, the included breakfast buffet is very good. You can walk (10 mins or so) to the Vatican and Spanish steps, and there are tour bus stops close by. Having been to many European hotels, I found this one to be incredibly comfortable, even for an extended stay.
