The hotel is in a central position of Rome, very close to Piazza del Popolo and the service is excellent. There were some works on the 6th floor but I haven't even notice that. the breakfast is good with many different offers. I don't think there is a swimming pool but in Rome you don't need one.

We stayed in the Visconti Palace hotel for three nights in March 2013. We were slightly concerned about the loctation as we has been advised by friendas that we shoould stay on the other side of the river in the historic centre, Our fears were unfounded however as we were able to walk to the Spanish Steps in about ten minutes and to St Peters in about the same time. From the Spanish Steps it was a pleasant stroll to the other famous sites - Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon etc. Crossing the river to Trastevere took only a few minutes longer. Trastevere is well worth visiting for the restaurants and bars and for soaking up the atmosphere. Because the weather was so pleasant we continued our walk from the Pantheon to the Colosseum. It's a long walk and you would need to be fairly fit to undertake it. Getting back to the hotel was easy though - we took the metro blue line from the Colosseum to Terminii where we changed to the red line and travelled to Lepanto - all for 1.50 each. The walk from Lepanto to the hotel takes less than five minutes.

As other reviewers have said the outside of the hotel is not very attractive but that all changes once you enter the modern foyer. Our room was a good size, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The complimentary bottles of water were a nice touch and very welcome after a long day's sightseeing. The bathroom was also a good size with nice toiletries. Our booking included breakfast which was served in the cafe on the lower ground floor. The cafe is modern and very pleasant - the only complaint I would have (and its only a small one) is the quality of the scramled eggs. Other than there was a good selection of fresh fruit, cereals and croissants etc availalble.

The hotel has a small bar where you can unwind after your travels around the city. There is also a very nice rooftop terrace which unfortunately was closed during most of our stay due to bad weather. It looked really nice and would be a good place to be on a nice evening.

The SITBus shuttle bus (www.sitbusshuttle.com) is a great option for getting from Fiumincino Airport to the hotel. The bus brings you to Piazza Cavour and from there its only about a three minute walk to the hotel. It costs only 5 euro each way if you book on-line (www.sitbusshuttle.com) or 6 euro if you pay on the bus.

There are some nice restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel - we ate in Osteria di Cicerone and Le Cupole. The latter was particulary good.

All in all our experience of the Visconti Palace was very good and we would definitley stay again.

I moved here after a bad experience around the corner at Hotel Isa and much preferred it! The rooms are not as modern but they are spacious and clean and the reception area is large and modern with extremely friendly staff. The bar area is also very pleasant and whilst breakfast is served in the basement and feel a little bit like a conference center the selection of food is very good (the cooked didn't appeal but the fresh food did) and again the staff excellent.

Whilst it advertises as a non smoking hotel I do think some rooms are still smoking rooms so be sure to ask for one that isn't and is away from ones that are if you are a non-smoker.

The location is very good and central with quite a few nice restaurants nearby and walking distance to most things. We had a Roma pass and never used the transport. Even in the rain we walked everywhere as there are so many beautiful buildings to see on your way to all the different historic attractions.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a non-smoking room and some rooms only had showers so again if you like to have a...

Like most people my friend and I spent ages comparing hotels in Rome to try and find one that would suit us. We idealy wanted a 4* hotel with good sized rooms that we would look forward to coming back to at the end of the day. Location was vital and having read a few reviews we were undecided whether the hotel would be too out of the way. It turned out to be perfect. We could walk everywhere easily and there were lots of cheap local bars and resterants close by. Our first evening we walked the five minute walk to the castle and listened to buskers whilst the sun set over the Vatican.

This hotel delivered on all counts for us. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and let us get into our room early. When it came time to leave the reception staff called us a taxi and the bellboy chatted to the driver to ensure we would pay the set amount (I think it was 30 euros) as we had been ripped off on our journey there. We felt the premier room with breakfast we booked was also very good value for money and the room was of a high quality and very clean.

I would definitely recomend this hotel to friends and would return in the future.

We stayed at the Visconti Place Hotel in Rome for 6 days in Feb 2012. The hotel was excellent. Well worth their 4 star billing.

We upgraded to a deluxe room which was super, the Staff at Receiption, Bar and in Restaurant were very friendly and most helpful throughtout our stay.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel to you for your stay in Rome.
Our stay at this hotel definately played a major part in making this holiday an holiday to remember.

Room Tip: I believe that upgrading to a deluxe room was well worth the extra money we paid.

this is a really friendly hotel that was good on service. Breakfast was in a light airy room with very helpful and attentive staff. It is an easy walk to all the key sights and close to some very good places to eat. The rooms do not have much character but they have lots of space and are well equiped. I would stay here again
