We are just back from a lovely 4 day trip to Rome. As it was our first time there we were unsure were to stay so we decided to stay near Termini Station as our transfer bus from Ciampino dropped us there. As with all major cities and there main train stations we were a bit weary of staying near station but it was a couple of streets away about 5 min walk any nearer looked a bit seedy and noisy! Hotel was around corner from Via Natzionole one of main roads in city centre. There is a McDonalds and lovely Irish bar around corner that served lovely food. Hotel rooms were small and basic but spotless and great base for sight seeing. Staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us great advice on getting around. Would definately go back and reccomend it. great value for money would reccomend Ryanair as airport nearer to city and Terravision Buses run excellent transfer service.

My husband and I have just returned from 4 nights in this hotel. While our room was quite small, it was adequate and very clean. It was also quiet as it was in the middle of the hotel, facing an inner courtyard - so no views, but also no traffic noise.
We found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was adequate with the usual choice of cereals, juices, fruit, bread, cake, eggs and bacon - but they could do with a bigger toaster.
The location of the hotel is excellent - 5 minutes walk from Termini, a couple of minutes walk to Republica Metro stop, a 15 minute walk down Nazionale to the Colosseum and easy bus or metro connections to all the other important sites.
We used one nice restaurant nearby which was recommended by the hotel - Antica Boheme, I think. But best value for money, with good food, was the area of Trastevere. And its a lovely district with lots of boutiques - very arty. Do go to the large church there, St Maria of Trastevere.
Would use Hotel Rex again as it is so convenient to everything.

We've just returned from a three night visit and got a very good deal, 3 nights for the price of two with breakfast included. The staff are very helpful and courteous. The hotel is very clean, beds comfortable and breakfast more than adequate. Our shower was not very efficient but we did not complain. The location is convenient for all the sights and in a relatively quiet street. Found a great little restaurant in the next street towards Termini - unimpressive on the outside but go down some stairs and you will find a gem - filled with Italians and lovely food which as you wait to be seated you can watch being prepared.

I took my girlfriend to Rome to celebrate her 30th Birthday. I was initially a little worried about the hotel because being 5 mins from the central Termini station i expected it to be in a less solubreus district of Rome.

However, the hotel was a great location and all the transport links were within 5 mins walk meaning we had fantastic access to anywhere in Rome.

The hotel was wonderfully clean, the rooms and beds were very comfortable, the shower was awesome the breakfast more than substantial, there was free internet, a reasonably priced bar, and the staff were INCREDIBLY helpful, polite and friendly.

I would not hesitate in booking another trip staying at the hotel Rex and it really went a long way towards making our trip to Rome unforgettable.
