I stayed at the Hotel Scott House for 7 nights on April 2008 as a member of a student group. I think this hotel is very good for larger groups who don't intend to spend much time in their rooms - you can get really cheap prices at this hotel if you are ready to share a small room with many people.
I was staying in a room with 4 other girls and although there wasn't much space to move from our beds we were quite happy with our room.
The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast wasn't wonderful, but it was sufficient and the staff in the breakfast room was very friendly and helpful, ready to pour you more coffee the minute you emptied your cup. Rooms were clean, new fluffy towels were brought every day and the sheets changed. Although the street where the hotel is is quite noisy our room, at least, was very quiet and peaceful.
The location is very good, maybe a minute from the main railway-, metro- and bus station Termini. The area is real tourist trap though, so be prepared to meet lots of street vendors, some of which might be quite insistent. I don't think the area was particularly seedy or dangerous though, as some have said in their reviews. I felt quite safe walking in the streets near the hotel with my girl friends, also late at night.
Downsides were the elevator (made horrible, scary noise and was very slow) and the thin walls - when we were standing in our shower we could hear our friends' conversation in the room next door.
Overall I think that this hotel was good value for money and I'll definitely stay there again when I next go to Rome.
