We stayed in Rome for four nights at the beginning of our Italian adventure, and another two at the end. Scott House Hotel Rome is in a very good location, and is value for money - it's easy walking around Rome from this location, and is literally 1or 2 minutes walk from the main railway station. However we were given two completely different rooms on each occasion. On our first four nights here, the room was generous in size, the bed reasonably comfortable (though made from two singles - this appears to be normal in budget hotels) and the bathroom adequate. We stayed on the first floor of the hotel, which is the 4th floor of the building. On our return to the hotel, we were given a room on the 5th floor of the building (second floor of the hotel). This room was completely different from the first, though the same price was paid. It was definitely a lot smaller. The two mattresses the double bed was made up from were completely different in height and softness, and they separated from each other multiple times during the night. The shower in the bathroom was missing a portion of it's door and the water sprayed out from the side of the shower head and pretty much everwhere.
We didn't complain as we were too tired and just wanted to enjoy our last two days in Rome without too much fuss, but the quality between the rooms is obviously varied.
I would stay here again if I could be guaranteed a room on the 4th floor of the building, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was adequate.

Me and my wife have been at Scott House last October.

Actually we didn't see no advantage to stay there. Although it is near from termini, the location is not good. The neiborhood is quite noise, dirty and seems not so safe.

Talking about the hotel the furniture of the rooms are very old and simple. The TV is very small. There's no air conditioning and the shower was very bad.

The breakfast is absolutely simple. There's no buffet system. The waiter brings you one piece of bread and offers some coffe or milk. You have no option to choose any kind of fruit, cheese, chocolate and all the stuffs normally served in a hotel breakfast.

By the way the price is not so cheap compared to others hotels in Rome

The biggest advantage to staying at the Hotel Scott House is its location... just a block and a half from the Termini, albeit through a somewhat seedy part of the city. Its position on the 4th level (each of the other levels are taken by other "hotels" in the building) makes it difficult to manage the stairs carrying 2 or more suitcases if the lift is not available.

However, the biggest downside is the street noise... almost impossible to sleep with the window open, even when just cracked slightly for some air. There is a bus stop outside and the street car line corners near the property... they both operate most of the night and make a good rest out of the question. Of course, the sound of the scooters is ubiquitous both day and night. The continental breakfast is spartan, at best.

All in all, I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay there again. I have found others much better in the same price range. It is, at most, a 2* property and pricey for what you get (E98 per night).

I can not understand how people said good things for that hotel! I selected this hotel by reading the reviews on trip advisor (at the beginning of the summer), however it was a big dissappointment!
* there was a smell in the bathroom. the water in the shower was too hot or too cold. the hot water was not flowing, it was almost dropping. And after a while it exhausted. water was flowing all over the bathroom, to the room, and even to the corridor of the hotel, out of the room!
*although the cleanliness of the room is very good (they were cleaning our room daily), the equipment in the room was poor-quality, third class, very cheap! for example, there was no cabin for the shower, instead there was a curtain that had turned to yellow. You should have courage to touch it!
*the breakfast was very very poor. the coffee was smelling badly, there was no cheese, no bread. we did not have it after the first day.
*the walls were very thin. the hotel and the street were too noisy.

It was near termini, and the housekeeping was good, but these were the only things that I can praise. The price is too high for that hotel. I have stayed at other hotels near termini in te previous years, and I cannot even compare them with this one.

While the location for this place is great and the price is pretty good it was let down by several factors.

1. The room had a distinct odour which came from the bathroom so had to ensure the door was closed while sleeping.
2. There was no water pressure in the bathroom so the showers was terrible
3. Also the clasp for the shower head was broken so had to hold the shower head in my hands.
4. The breakfast was minimal and the same everyday
5. While the staff were friendly and spoke very good english they could not answer questions like how long does it take the shuttle to get to the airport. Things I would expect any basic concierge to know.
6. The mattress was thin and hard as a rock.

I in all honesty could not recommend this place to someone to stay for that price. Think you can get a better deal elsewhere.
