We stayed in Rome for four nights at the beginning of our Italian adventure, and another two at the end. Scott House Hotel Rome is in a very good location, and is value for money - it's easy walking around Rome from this location, and is literally 1or 2 minutes walk from the main railway station. However we were given two completely different rooms on each occasion. On our first four nights here, the room was generous in size, the bed reasonably comfortable (though made from two singles - this appears to be normal in budget hotels) and the bathroom adequate. We stayed on the first floor of the hotel, which is the 4th floor of the building. On our return to the hotel, we were given a room on the 5th floor of the building (second floor of the hotel). This room was completely different from the first, though the same price was paid. It was definitely a lot smaller. The two mattresses the double bed was made up from were completely different in height and softness, and they separated from each other multiple times during the night. The shower in the bathroom was missing a portion of it's door and the water sprayed out from the side of the shower head and pretty much everwhere.
We didn't complain as we were too tired and just wanted to enjoy our last two days in Rome without too much fuss, but the quality between the rooms is obviously varied.
I would stay here again if I could be guaranteed a room on the 4th floor of the building, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was adequate.
