My wife and I have just got back from our trip to Europe. We stayed in Rome for 4 nights at this hotel. Unless you are on a tight budget, we would not recommend it. Our room was small and very dated. This property has not been updated in many, many years. The photos on the hotels website are a bit misleading. The wallpaper was peeling off and although the room was basically clean, it was a bit grubby. The bed (which took up virtually all of the floor space) was as hard as rock. Breakfast was included in the room price (85 Euros) and was good.
The location is pretty good, but a bit of a walk to the main vatican areas, on the opposite side from the Museum, etc. It is very close to St. Peters Square and the Basilica though. It would be worth paying a little more and being on the other side of the square, where everything is closer. To get to the vatican you have to go through an underpass with some interesting people, but seemed pretty safe. The bus passes by the hotel and goes directly to the Termini, which is handy. The same bus takes you to many other parts of the centre as well.
The location limits your dining options near the hotel. The restaurant just up the street (turn right out the hotel door, first place on the right) is pretty good. The food was fresh, tasty and the service is good and unhurried. The price is pretty good too. About 80 to 100 Euros for a full dinner with wine and drinks (for two people). The place directly across the street is terrible (unless you like microwaved pasta and store-bought sauces). The other bars across the street are pretty good for a snack and a beer/wine.
