within 5 minutes walk of vatican. directly on central bus line; about 10-15 min walk to Metro (underground).

at least 3 cafe/restaurants within 3 minutes of hotel.

safe, clean, excellent choice for anyone visiting Roma.
We stayed for 4 nights, and saw all of the city with this hotel as our base. we purchased a 3 day ticket good for all bus/metro lines, and we could get anywhere within just minutes...getting around was very easy.

the room was large, very clean, but you will experience road noise since it is close to the main street going towards the vatican. it didn't bother us, but it might some. we don't spend a lot of time in the room, so as long as it is clean, has a decent bath or shower, and is in a great location, it works.

this hotel had it all. i would highly recommend it to anyone.

Good values rooms, and although simply laid out, are spacious enough and clean. The vicinity to the Vatican is a bonus if thats what you are in Rome for, but a nice walk down the river takes you into Trastevere and just across the river is the centre. We had a quadruple room that worked out quite cheap, and we didn't have any problems with the noise although some of the other guests did.
There seemed to be a lot of priests and people working in the Vatican staying there which I suppose is a good sign, but would stay there again simply for value for money, and the spectacle of St Peters which is practically out of the front door of the Hotel.

The property is on a side street near the Vatican Colonnade, with a grocery up the road, small trattorias (and chinese restos) souvenir shops (whatelse) and clergymen (and women !!!)

Quaint elevator (but for three adults with 60-80 Kg worth of luggage, everything has to be choreographed).

Rooms are a bit dated and dark (ours had a nice tree outside the window) but the lavatory is another story (we got used to the THX sound of the flush) inside the room. Other than that, it is best to enjoy Rome and return to the room tired and exhausted.

breakfast was adequate (At least they had cereal.. in hotel florida, venice... only croissants!)

staff were generally nice and helpful (especially the lady and the older gentleman, whose names escape me)

Overall hotel is adequate for pilgrim and budgetty types.

  • Tips/Secrets: — tratoria tirolese (reputed where Benedict XVI used to have a bavarian fix.. 8 Euro for a full plate), very early mornings at the vatican to avoid the herds, getting a FREE ticket for the Wed papal audience and sitting by the white railings in St. Peters while the Pope passes and leaving the audience during the polish reading (exiting is madness), cheapo religious souvenir near tirolese

The staff at this hotel was beyond rude. We asked for directions and they would not give them. We asked for a different room because the shower basin overflowed and they would not give us one. The air conditioing did not work and they said the service man was called. The air never got fixed. I asked where I could buy a power adapter and the clerk said he had no idea. Yet I found a store on my own less than one block away. We were afraid to use the elevator, because it was so old and it shook, so we walked up the stairs. The bed was short and hard, reminded me of a army cot. They refused to give us a wake up call on the one day we wanted to get a really early start. On check out we were handed a bill for 6 nights even though we only stayed 5 nights. I did not pay the 6 nights and they did adjust the bill to 5 nights. I have traveled to Ireland, England, Mexico and many, many other places and this was the absolute worst hotel we have ever encountered in our last 10 years of travel.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, no frills hotel very near the Vatican, this is it. I'm in Rome frequently and have used this hotel twice. Rooms are simple and fairly clean, although one in our group was on the lowest floor, (rear) and had bugs in the bathroom (which I guess is common in Roma). AC worked well, staff is very friendly, good restaurants nearby...but the Bernini's columns of St. Peter's Square are literally a good golfball hit away.
