“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We stayed one night in a family room with our 2 children aged 10 and 12. Lovely big room with a balcony, in a quiet pleasant location. Staff were excellent and very helpful, and breakfast was a big buffet of lovely food. Location has pros and cons - quite a long bus ride out of the centre, and we had quite a long wait for the bus each time, but the bus ride itself was an adventure, seeing different areas of Rome and experiencing the double parking and interesting driving along narrow streets full of other vehicles! The next morning we walked to the Villa Borghese park, not for away, where there is so much more to see and you could easily walk on into the centre of Rome all across the park, which we would have done if we'd had more time. It also enabled my son to kick his football around - the only time in our whole week in Italy! I would recommend this hotel if you have plenty of time, but possibly a bit far out for a one-night stopover.

In October we stayed 3 nights in this hotel prior to going on a Med cruise. We liked being out of the the city, and yet the commute into Rome, by bus was easy. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. We loved the outdoor dining! 4 of our friends also rented rooms and the discrepancy between the size of the rooms, for the same money was noticeable. The breakfast (included in the cost) was very good.

This hotel is great at the end of a hard days sight seeing as it is located in a quiet residential area. It is a 20 minutes bus ride from the main centre so it isn't too far out. The breakfast is more than adequate, with a wide variety to suit most people. The hotel is very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Nino, who spent considerable time chatting with myself and my husband about where to go and what to do. Would definately stay here again and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room with a balcony

We stayed at this hotel 14th-19th October. All the staff were very helpful and courteous. Nothing too much trouble. Even arriving 2 hours before booking in time, had room available in 10 mins. They all spoke impeccable English, which put our attempts at Italian to shame. The room was very comfortable, and always spotless. The restaurant staff were amazing, so very helpful. The location was also very good, a bus ride or tram ride is a short distance walk, and the transport system very good.Would recommend this hotel to everyone, and would definitely stay there again.
Loved it!!

Room Tip: we had a first floor room with large balcony at the rear of the hotel-perfect

My wife and I were very happy with the service at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. That should not be overlooked. Unfortunately for us, that's where the hotel's positive attributes stopped.

The beds are extremely uncomfortable. I often camp and sleep outside on a thermarest, or sometimes even on the bare ground, and have no problem getting good rest....so I'm not saying that the beds are like the bare ground, but for a 3 star hotel, they are very poor. The pillows are even worse. I think my freshman dorm room at University was vastly superior...

The internet connection (huge for us) is terrible. It's free, which to me should be standard these days, but it's slow. It's almost to the point where I would have paid extra to have a connection without 200 users with 3 devices per room connected to the network....

There wasn't a fridge in the room, tv was small and had intermittent outages for certain channels (not that I even watch more than 10 minutes of tv while traveling but tuning in for some bedtime news was a bit frustrating with bbc cutting out...).

The rooms are otherwise very basic, but clean. The bathroom was reasonably spacious and updated, which helps out the overall quality of the place. But really only up to average for the money.

We also made the mistake of driving into the city and of course parking is then an issue. We ended up paying 20E for a valet garage across the street, but obviously that's not the hotel's fault...just an fyi in case you think you might find street parking. You won't. We saw a SMART car parked perpindicular to the curb in between two other cars near the hotel. So yeah, parking on the street is tight!

Dear Guest

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience at our hotel.
Our customers’ reviews are very important for us to improve the quality of our hotel.
We take our guest comments very seriously as we use them to constantly make improvements to the hotel and the service we give.
We are sorry to hear you were not pleased with the comfort of our beds.
Our beds and mattresses are specific for Hotel use – they have to be fireproof to ensure the safety of our guests.
There were 2 kind of fireproof mattresses we could choose from , super orthopedic mattresses and soft mattresses. As all medical prescriptions say it is better to sleep on orthopedic mattresses this was our choice. These beds , specific for hotels , are not for sale in normal shops - they are sold only by a few companies to 90% of Rome’ hotels as they require various and important certifications.
Same thing regarding the pillows – they have to be fireproof and for this reason there is no so much choice. Anyway we have bought different type of pillows to ensure everyone comfort. If you asked the front desk you would have received more pillows to choose from. As a matter of fact there is always a spare pillow in the closet of every room.
We are sorry to hear you were not pleased with our Free Wifi Connection. Our server provide free Wi-Fi Connection to all our rooms and public areas, we are aware that sometimes , when all the rooms are connected at the same moment , there could be some slowdown in the connection. Unfortunately this problem is not under our control as it is caused by the Telecom Company wich restrict our bandwidth in high traffic hours. For this reason , in addition to our free Wi-Fi, we provide 3 internet station (free of charge) at the hotel lobby. In the next future there won’t be anymore this problem as we are waiting for a new optical fibers line (more powerful than our current line) to be activated in our neighborhood.
Italy is slowly adapting to the highest standards of Internet speed connection, we hope to be able to offer you in a short time the same connection speed that you can find in the USA.
The MiniBar is not among our services, we do not advertise to offer them in our rooms. For our Hotel this was an ecological choice as the minibar has to be on 24/24 365 days a year with a big waste of energy. Moreover we don’t like to offer overpriced goods to cover the energy expenses of the minibar. For this reason we offer at our reception 24/24 service where you can buy cold and hot drinks at normal prices - without any surcharge
What about the TV , in each room we offer 22’ inches Flat Screen Tv – all the tv in our rooms are HD – we offer more than 25 italian channels – different channels in english , spanish , german and french – we offer 2 sport channels , news and science channels. Unfortunately the quality of the international channels depends on the satellite signal which sometime can be disturbed , we apologize for that but it is not under our control.

Our goal is to treat our guests to the highest level of comfort and from your comments we may have missed an opportunity to meet this goal while you were visiting us.
We thank you for choosing the Hotel delle Muse while visiting Rome and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Many Thanks
Best Regards
Gavriel Lazar

We booked our vacations thru European Vacations.com, great experience by the way, and they gave us this hotel as first choice. I did some research and was concern about it's location but the truth is that it's just a short bus ride away. Now, the bus can be tricky at night because we never figured the exact time it will pass by Termini, other than that there was no transportation issue. The hotel sells the Roma Card, Hop-on-n-off bus tickets and more. There is a little shop up the street that sells the bus tickets (it seems that only tourists pay for the bus, nobody else we saw had tickets to the bus other than tourists). The staff is GREAT! Breakfast awesome. Rooms clean and pretty. Ours had a small terrace. The restaurant is really good. We highly recommend this one!!
