“Loved it! Excellent location, friendly staff, lovely rooms - wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2009

Some background: My husband and I came to the hotel for our honeymoon in Rome. We were married in Australia (in March) before moving back to Ireland so we didn't have a chance to have a honeymoon straight away. What better place than Rome! Due to our finances we'd booked into the hotel for 2 nights in a Double Room and 3 nights in the Honeymoon Suite. Imagine our delight when we arrived and Mario advised we'd been upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite for the full 5 nights as a gift from the Hotel. We were welcomed with Moet Chandon and strawberries. Our room had an attached conservatory and a large terrace to sit/eat outside. I know this is not a standard room but to anyone on their honeymoon - I'd really recommend this suite as it was lovely to relax on the couch in the conservatory after a hard day walking.

The nitty-gritty: I found the room to be very clean, the staff very accommodating and the breakfast OK. The cappucino each morning was actually very good. We ate at the hotel twice and I found it quite nice (especially when you consider the price and it being so easy to get to:-)). The location is superb - 2 mins walk from Rupubblica station (so only 5 stops from the Vatican on the Metro) and walking distance from everywhere else. Also, the cleaning staff are very quiet and the air-conditioning good.

Overall: I would definitely stay here again, even in just a normal room as the staff are so professional, the service good, the price reasonable and the location excellent. I can't think of anything negative to say - perhaps the bath could be a bit wider.

We would normally have stayed in a 5-star on the Via Veneto without further investigation, but chose the Artemide based on its location and the reviews on this site. We weren't disappointed. The service and staff are wonderful -- very accommodating. The rooms are clean, spacious, utilitarian and serviced promptly. It may be hard to think of a $400+ room as a bargain, but those are the facts of visiting Rome.

We took the breakfast buffet, a complete continental European-style layout with cold meats, cheeses, fruit, juices and pastries, with mediocre scrambled eggs and bacon as a concession to American and British guests. Their "American" coffee is EXCEPTIONAL! The hotel has its own rooftop restaurant, a very nice place for an early-evening drinkbut with unexceptional food -- if you're tired from your day, it's OK, but the neighborhood offers much better choices for less.

Via Nazionale is a very central location and has lots of restaurants and major attractions within easy walking distance (1/2 mi. for restaurants, 1 to 1-1/2 mi. for attractions). The area isn't a high-end district and opportunities abound for you to see how middle-class Romans handle life in a sometimes-chaotic city.

We had a junior suite facing the street -- be aware that the windows are not soundproofed as most American hotels are, and that the street is very busy at all hours of the day and night. There WILL be sirens.

The wireless internet provided by the hotel was very, very slow. They are working on it and it should be improved soon, but if you have problems, you should consider the Vodafone Alice universal service or something else. The staff was very accommodating but seemed to be limited by their incoming high-speed "pipe."

All in all, we would return.

If there was only one complaint it would be that the internet in room and Business Suite did not work. We were informed that maintenace would take place on the Saturday between 11am and 3pm which was understandable were excellant, food and drinks in hotel a bit overpriced but you expect that in Rome. We would definately reccomend this hotel to friends and family

We stayed in this hotel in the middle of July for 3 nights. It was our first time to Rome so we wanted somewhere central. Central it is. Check in was quick and the staff very helpful and pleasant. The room was very small in comparison to other places we have stayed. When people say they couldn't swing a cat, the were describing the rooms here. Thankfully that's where the complaints stop, Aside from the small room, everthing else was as expected, the breakfast room was well stocked with a great selection, the hotel's roof top bar/restaurant was simply lovely, very romantic and the bar man makes great cocktails, Hotel was centrally located, within distance of all the sites with the exception of the vatican (get a taxi). Overall a good stay and would recommend it to a friend.

We stayed 3 nights here and chose it based on the reviews here and because it had a free mini bar. Probably also, as we travelled with our two children we were able to book a room that comfortably slept 4 people. The room we had faced Via Nazionale and even with the window / door open to the balcony was very quiet.

Everything about this hotel was great - service was excellent, rooms were a good size for Rome, location was good for most of the major sights - we walked to Fontana Di Trevi with our kids and back from the Colleseo also.

The only things that could be improved is possibly the breakfast - I found it a bit uninspiring and the choice a bit lacking. Irish pub on the corner provides a good value option if you eat before 3pm for lunch.

We would stay there again

The hotel was within walking distance from the station, so don't brother with a taxi. Most of the main attractions were easily reached on foot, only used the metro to go to the Vacation. Our room was clean and really appreciated the free mini bar after a long day sight seeing, also the air conditioning! The roof terrace was charming and provided a cool and pleasant end to the day.Staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay again on any future visit to Rome.Breakfast was very good, staff attentive.

Artemide Hotel was an easy walk from the Metro station and was very clean. The room and bathroom were small, but nothing different from most Italian hotels. The people at the front desk were always kind and answered any questions we had. I would certainly stay there again if I return to Rome.
