“Excellent staff, location, and service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2009

Just recovered from a week in Rome and spent the whole time at Artemide. We had room 404, balcony room overlooking the main road Via Nazionale. When we pulled up I knew itwasn't going to look as advertised on the hotel website, because of feedback in another review, but inside it was lovely. Ever member of staff was pleasant and Reception staf Alessandro and Paulo could not have been more helpful, between booking taxis, recommending restaurants, giving directions etc. We had a late flight on our return journey, but hotel was able to keep our belongings so we could spend the last day touring. Although the room wasn't overly big, it was big enough for the two of us, and depite being on the main road, we couldnt hear a thing the soundproofing was so good. Food was good, but make sure if you want breakfast to get down before ten. Although serving times go to half ten, most bacon and eggs is gone by this stage and you haven't a hope of getting anymore, so we were disappointed in this, especially as we had paid for b and b basis. only way round this was to order room service, but we were charged for this. that said, breakfast was good and the room was cleaned out every single day. the holiday was for our silver anniversary, and the hotel had kindly left a card and bottle of chianti in the room for us as a gift, which was a nice touch. unfortunately, one of the maids threw the card out during cleaning, but when i pointed this out to the hotel on my evaluation sheet, by the time we came back to pick up our cases on the last day, they had made out a replacement card - i was really appreciative of this and the trouble they took to do it twice. overall, i would have no hesitations in recommending the hotel. only three doors away from an irish pub that stayed open till half one, we were able to wind up most evenings with a relaxing drink without worry of cathcing taxi, bus or metro. very central to all major attractions, it may be a little pricey, but if you are looking for an honest opinion, artemide would be very hard to beat.

We staid at this hotel for four nights and were fully satisfied. Our room was fabulous and the minibar in this hotel is for free (!!!) and refilled every day. The location is great... in walking distance to most of the sights but not too close so you are not surounded by lots of tourists once you walk out. There is a great small restaurand just around the corner. Room service was fabulous and our room was really clean every day. When coming back to rome, we would definitely stay there again!

We just returned from a stay at the Hotel Artimide. There were 11 of us staying at this hotel. Everyone had really nice rooms except for my husband and I. In fact, the room we were put in may have been an overflow room...Our friends had jacuzzi tubs, robes, rather large rooms and bathrooms, all new and clean. Our room looked like it should have been for munchkins! It was so bad, that our friends doubled over laughing when they saw it! The shower was so tiny and old...it didn't drain and the lip was only 2 inches high, so we had to hurry with our shower before it started to overflow into the bathroom. Two lights were burned out in the bathroom, so we took showers basically in the dark...couldn't see which was shampoo and which was conditioner! We had twin beds, though our friends all had king beds. Our room wasn't really dirty, although the floor in the bathroom must not have been swept, as there was lots of hair in the corners. All of our friends were put in a different part of the hotel, they even had a nice marble elevator...we had a different elevator...and our hallway was old and narrow, theirs was much more upscale. Two of our friends had french doors in their rooms, that opend out to balconies they could walk out on...we had a small window that had shutters closed on the outside, and could not be opened.
We tried to be good sports about it...the room you get can be a crap shoot sometimes...but we paid the same rate as our friends, and it was as if we were staing in a different hotel. Actually, their rooms were great, and I would recommend the hotel, as long as you don't get room 114! Breakfast was great...and our room did provide a great laugh for all of our friends...I just want people to know if they stay here DO NOT accept room 114! :)

HotelArtemide, Hotel Manager at Artemide Hotel, responded to this review, August 15, 2009
On behalf of the Artemide hotel, I would like to thank the clients for their review despite the fact that it didn’t reflect the reality of our hotel. In fact, the overwhelming majority of our guests would give a completely different view and you can check this fact if you have a quick look at Tripadvisor reviews of our hotel.

If I may I would like to start my comment on the clients’ points by saying that in their booking their travel agent has specifically asked for a room with a twin bed. We have complied with their wish and they were allocated a room with a twin bed although we do not have many of those. In hotels all over the world, it is a common practice that if a client is not satisfied with his or her room, he/she would notify reception staff. I checked our records and no such request was ever made during their stay. I am sure if they did let us know, we would have done our best to make their stay as comfortable and as memorable as possible. This has been our established policy for a long time. Regarding the lights in the bathroom, all rooms are checked before guest’s arrival. If the problem has happened during the guests stay then a simple telephone call to the reception would have solved the problem within minutes.

We in the Artemide hotel are very keen to take all our customers remarks into consideration and look into them. This is our policy and one of the important ways to continuously improve our performance and facilities.
We are in the process of renovating all the remaining rooms of the hotel (only 3 left , and 114 is one of those). This will be completed by the first week of September this year.
Lastly, I only wish that the clients’ remark was brought to my attention at the time, it would have been dealt with swiftly and to their satisfaction.

I stayed for 3 nights with my kids and we also had extended family stay with us in another room. We had a Triple Superior room and relatives stayed in a Double Classic. The rooms were spacious, clean, very quiet (we didn't face the street) and the breakfasts were amazing. The only hotel we stayed at in Italy that served bacon and eggs. The minibar had two waters, two orange-flavoured fantas, two cokes, two beers (NastroAbbruzzo), and peanuts and crackers for snacks. This did help tremendously. The bathrooms had an excellent assortment of toiletries (vanity sets, tissues), slippers, bathrobes, etc. On a central street with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Although we walked everything (except St. Peter's), the bus service is efficient. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel. If you are coming from Termini Station as we did, there is no use in taking a taxi to the hotel. Just walk it (and we did in sweltering heat). The traffic in front of the station is horrendous and you'll just be sitting in a car forever. 10 minutes walk and you're there.

Pluses:

The hotel itself was beautiful. The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. The breakfast was delicious. The bathroom was HUGE. Wi-Fi in your room was free. Mini-bar is free.

Minuses:

The room is pretty small (enough space only for the bed and a small desk). The air conditioning didn't work well. It was fairly uncomfortable for us most nights. The bed is very firm (which is great if you like that, but I don't). It was a fairly long walk to most places that we went. Free Wi-Fi was highly undependable.

All staff at the Artemide Hotel were pleasent and easy to deal with. The food was excellent and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the roof top restaurant. Our room was cleaned daily and the free mini bar was most welcome after a long day touring the beautiful city. The buffet breakfeast provides choises for everyone and sets you up nicely for the long day ahead. We spent 5 great nights at this hotel and also had our 14 year old daughter with us who also enjoyed her stay. Reception staff catered for all our requests and organised our airport and hotel pick up.
I Believe that if your accomadation is not right your holiday is ruined from day one. This hotel is ideal for touring all the major attractions in the city and is right beside the metro which is a huge asset. There are some lovely restaurants in the area and the hotel menu is hard to beat. If i was forced to find a issue with our stay I would point to the air conditioning which was a little noisy but this is grasping at straws.

This hotel is in a good city centre location with only a ten minute walk to the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps and the Colosseum. Cannot fault this hotel. The room was spotless. Excellent buffet breakfast included. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel provides a taxi service from the hotel to the airport (35 minutes approx.) I would definitely stay here again.
