Before going to Rome, I read a lot of hotel reviews and Hotel Artemide really stood out as a hotel with loads of positive reviews. Now that I've stayed there a week I would highly recommend it to anyone. For Rome (renowned for its small hotel rooms) the rooms are a reasonable size, they're very clean and have a lovely, relaxed feel about them. I booked an inner courtyard room because I'd read that the ones on the street could be noisy. Our room was certainly very quiet.

It's a four-star hotel so it's not pure luxury but it's delightfully comfortable. It also isn't located exactly in the centre of the sightseeing areas (such as near the Spanish Steps) but it's also much cheaper for this. Plus it's walking distance to everything anyway. My mother and walked everywhere we wanted to go (usually a cab back as we were stuffed at the end of the day!).

Breakfast is great too, for Rome. It's good food and it's ample.

My only complaint? Trying to maintain wi-fi/skype connections. I really struggled with this but the staff were all very helpful.

Ultimately, I'd definately stay at this hotel again next time I go to Rome and I will be recommending it to all my friends/family. Enjoy!

The Artemide Hotel really was excellent! Location was good, with all main attractions within walking distance. If you wanted to travel further there was a taxi rank just at the bottom of the street. Breakfast was good, staff were most helpful and courteous at all times and cleanliness was clearly of high importance.

We got a free upgrade to a superior room. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. You can walk to most of the sights in Rome from this hotel. Would go back again.

We chose this hotel after selecting from the hundreds on offer with the help of Tripadvisor and other sources as a compromise balancing cost, location and quality. We were happy with the level of service provided considering the high price of accommodation in Rome compared to some other areas of Europe. The room was just big enough, very clean (although I don't really like the artificially aged mirror glass which is popular here), staff were friendly and helpful and there was a reasonable choice at breakfast, even if I can't really come round to the Italian fondness for cake at such an early hour. The free regularly replenished minibar was a nice touch.

The hotel is well located on the Via Nazionale a short distance from the railway station. We had feared that we might be too far from the nightlife and tourist areas but found the public transport easy to use with buses running regularly all night past the front door. I would recommend a tourist transport ticket for several days which is also valid on the (rather limited) tube train.

There are reasonable restaurants in the vicinity and if you enjoy light opera regular concerts are performed in period costumes at St Paul's Within the Walls church next door.
