After reading the WIDE range of reviews, with much trepidation, decided to go for it. I am so glad we did..Yes, we did have to haul our bags a block from the main street, due to construction...but as soon as I got to the lobby they sent someone to help us.
Yes the elevator is small, big deal, beats using the stairs. And they bring up your luggage so the size doesn't matter.
I can't understand all the complaints about the breakfast! It was totally complete with fresh fruit, vedgetables, eggs, juice's, meat, cheese, cereal's....everyday! If you ask they also make you cappachino, or esspresso, no charge!
We were there 4 nights and I used their computer every night for free!!
After reading complaints about noise in the streets (there is a bar across the front street) I simply requested a quiet room off the street. We were on the 3rd floor at the rear of the building..totally quiet!
Room was refurbashed, nicewood floors con. worked perfectly (only needed it 1 x) yes it was small, tight fit getting from 1 side of the bed to the other, only about 2 ft. between the end of the bed and the wall...Soooo what! Very clean...bathroom was new and very clean, small, but full size bathtub and a bidet (I even used it!).
The Cavor subway station is just down the street, you can see it from the hotel, perfect!
Back to the breakfast, they call it continental, but its a full breakfast.
Oh, also there is a fridge, safe, and flat screen(large 40") TV.
So if your worried, just ask for a newly refinished room at the rear of the hotel.

We made it to Rome and found our hotel pretty easily. They gave great directions online and we were there in maybe 10 minutes. Apparently the people that have put reviews saying it is hard to find, did not follow the directions given. The hotel was very nice and the staff was extremely helpful during our whole stay. This room was one of the best so far in Italy. We had a cute little terrace and a full size tub, which was very exciting since most bathrooms are quite small and usually only have small showers. We also had a nice plasma tv even though you won't find many american channels. They also surprised us with a bottle of champagne on our first night since it was our honeymoon. Breakfast was the best so far with hot food as well as the regular pastries, etc. They also have a nice sitting area for breakfast.

Recommendations: See a futbol game at the Stadio Olimpico. It took us a while to get there but it was a lot of fun! The Stadium is about 6km outside of the city center but the ride home was much easier. They had buses just outside the stadium and it took about 10-15 minutes to get to the hotel.

Definitely contact Angel Tours and do the Vatican Tour and the Colosseum and Roman Forum Tour. They were fantastic! The guides on both tours were very entertaining and full of information.

The church of Santa Maria degli Angeli was beautiful and worth the visit and you should also make sure to see the Capitoline Museums.

Valentinos...a little tratoria near the hotel. The man at the front desk of the hotel reccommended it and we ate there more than once. Fabulous food and good prices!

Just returned from our first family trip to Rome, and Duca d'Alba was the perfect base for exploring the city. Slight apprehesion as we approached down a small side street, completely forgotten as we entered the hotel.
Early April with ongoing (but not intrusive) renovations close to completion, I think this hotel is a litlle gem. Perfectly clean, depsite the work, polite very helpful staff, sufficient breakfast including fresh fruit every morning. Perhaps not the biggest place in town but rooms decorated to a good standard with aircon and simply a perfect base.
Key sites are all walking distance, and metro close by. Cafe's, bars and restaurants to suit all budgets in most directions. Local streets lively on weekend evenings, but not loud or threatening, our ten year old boys loved it.
Would go back tomorrow.

This was an awful experience the room was not clean. The bed and bathroom were dirty and continued to be for the remainder of my stay. I did not feel comfortable, want so ever in this hotel. The website is very deceiving because the hotel does not look like what is on their website. The location was good but not worth it. Do not recommend!!

We chose this hotel for our last night in Rome as a bit of a slurge on our budget thinking it would be nicer. Room was decent size, bathroom was nice, but entrance was horrible, due to construction on the streets, and cab had to drop us off about 1/2 a block away from entrance and we drug our suitcases across a battle zone. Staff was less than cooperative and had a horrific wait for check in. Best thing I can say is they actually served a nice breakfast buffett, first time we had eggs, bacon, and the works for 2 weeks. Was conveniently located by Colosseum, Palentine Hill, and metro station, but area seemed pretty tough, wouldn't want to be walking alone late at night.

Management response from ducalba, proprietario
(Management representative)
Mar 20, 2009
Dear Madame and Sir,
we want to thank you for your comment that helps us to improve our service.
The construction on the street are a "Comune di Roma (municipal authorities)" work to fix some water pipes in the underground. They promised us that their works will be finished within a few days.
We are sorry for your waiting to check-in, we remind to all of our guests that our official check-in time is at 14,00 am, but if the room is ready and clean before that time, the check-in will be earlier. Our location area is the ancient "Rione Monti" area full of restaurants and well enlightened.
We hope to have you again as our guest in a future time, to offer you an improved service.
Kindest Regards,
Ruggero Giorgi - Hotel General Manager
