We chose this hotel for our last night in Rome as a bit of a slurge on our budget thinking it would be nicer. Room was decent size, bathroom was nice, but entrance was horrible, due to construction on the streets, and cab had to drop us off about 1/2 a block away from entrance and we drug our suitcases across a battle zone. Staff was less than cooperative and had a horrific wait for check in. Best thing I can say is they actually served a nice breakfast buffett, first time we had eggs, bacon, and the works for 2 weeks. Was conveniently located by Colosseum, Palentine Hill, and metro station, but area seemed pretty tough, wouldn't want to be walking alone late at night.

I booked the hotel through Venere.com webpage.
The location of the hotel is excellent, there are several restaurants and shops near to the hotel, as well as, the Covour metro station is just 20 mts ahead.
Good things from the hotel:
- Easy to access
- Free Wireless internet service
- Friendly staff
Need Improvement:
- The room was too small and noise
Suggestion: avoid the rooms near to the elevator as those are very noise.

Mom & dad, grandmother & three teens stayed here over Thanksgiving.Excellent location, with fun bars, wonderful chocolate & candy shops, very Roman antique dealers, fancy & homestyle restaurants...you can not ask for more. except a metro nearby...oh! There's one two cobblestone blocks away! And the area is unequaled if your hope is to immerse yourself in old Rome. The Coliseum, St Peter's in Chains, the Forum...so much more. The hotel: super clean, excellent breakfast, cozy (ok small) rooms but comfy & clean and the staff is ever so helpful. The hotel has a lovely ambiance. It is a cheerful place. We will stay with the Hotel Duca d'Alba again.

The Duca d’Albe hotel makes money no matter what!
I made reservation with the Duca d’Albe hotel with arrival on 08/27/2008 and departure on 08/28/2008, only for one night stay.
On 08/26/2008 Tuesday afternoon I had a flight from Chicago to Philadelphia to make connection flight to Rome, Italy. My Chicago flight was delayed for 2,5 hours because there was a major outage in the computer flight network system. We arrived to Philadelphia approximately 45 min later after my plane to Rome took already off. The only available flight to Rome was next day 08/27/2008. I could not possible be in Rome on 8/27/2008 to stay at the Duca d’Albe hotel! While I was in Philadelphia, I contacted the Duca d’Albe hotel asking them to cancel my reservation, explaining them my unfortunate situation. But they refused to do it for me. Their argument was that there is a 48 hours cancellation policy. My case was truly exceptional. This delay was something that I could not be in control of.
They did not care that this was something that could not be canceled 48 hours prior to arrival. The Duca d’Albe hotel charged my credit card for $185.00 anyway.
Because of this delay I had to cancel my other reservations and all other companies were really responsive to my situation. They did me a favor of either refunding money or not charging my credit card.
Only the Duca d’Albe hotel took my money and kept it.
So, beware, it could happen to you too!!!
