A great Hotel about 10-15 minute walk from Termini railway station. We found the staff friendly and efficient; the rooms were very clean and air conditioned, which was a nice surprise as that did not appear in the details we were given. A great central location, we were able to walk to the Trevi fountain (and back!), walked to Termini to take the Metro to the Spanish Steps and the Colesseum, walked to Termini to take an open-topped bus tour. In all, were there for 4 nights and were delighted with the Hotel and it's location. Breakfast was the usual: bread, meat, cheese, croissant, fruit etc but plentiful and fresh.
No facility for lunch or dinner, but Via Viminale is well provided with cafe's and restaurants. There is also a small supermarket just opposite the Hotel that we used to buy makings for lunch.
Best things about the Hotel are the staff and it's location, worst is the flight of stairs needed to get into the Hotel; for me, this makes it a great Hotel rather than fantastic one. If there is any way to get the lift to street level you should do it.

We got to this hotel while reading reviews on the web and it was just as good as described! Staff is really nice, everything is clean, rooms are big, breakfast was great and it's really close to everything. Next time in Rome we will surely stay in this hotel! Highly highly recommanded!

Situated next to the Opera, the hotel is just a short walk from Termini station and main metro/bus routes. You will be greeted warmly by Toni and the other staff - all friendly and polite.

Rooms are a bit 'compact & bijou' but spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with a safe (€2.50 per day), aircon and ensuite shower/WC. Rooms are cleaned daily, with crisp cotton sheets and a lovely firm bed too!!!! Buffet style continental breakfast is simple and adequate, with fresh fruit and rolls, and the breakfast area is kept stocked & tidy by the pleasant staff.

The hotel is convenient for all the main tourist attractions - Colosseum or Trevi Fountain are a 20 mins walk, or a 24hr bus/metro pass will cost just €4, useful for when the feet begin to ache! We opted for guided tours at the Colosseum & Palatine (€22), Vatican (€45) and Renaissance Rome (€45 including a meal) - not cheap, but you jump all the queues and get to see so much more of the essential historical facts & places. Just make sure you get an official tourist guide.

To summarise: this is a great value hotel at under €100 per night, and the staff are all helpful and pleasant. We would be delighted to stay here again!

We just returned from a holiday in Italy with stayed in numerous hotels. This hotel can be rated as one of the best in its class.
Very close to Termini, shopping, and all other important places. Plenty of restaurants around and supermarket too.
Hotel rooms are very spacious according to Europian/Italian standards, Also fully re-furbished and very clean and neat. Staff are very customer focused and very helpful/ Special mention to Tony at the reception, In addition you get free Wi-fi to the room.
What moe you can ask from a 3 star rated hotel but with 4 star facilities and yet very reasonably priced. (you need to spend at least another 50 euros to the rates to get hotel of this calibire in Rome)

We strongly recomend this hotel for any traveller visiting Rome

We stayed in Hotel Lirico for 5 nights in the middle of June 2009. We had stayed here a couple of years ago, and returned as the Hotel has a good base, and was very good value for money. On our most recent visit, the Hotel has made improvements to the reception and breakfast area. These improvements did make our stay better than the last. The Lirico is very clean and even though the rooms are on the small side, they are adequate for a short stay in Rome. Everyone in the hotel is very helpful. The Lirico will not disappoint, as the location and standard of the hotel is very high,
