Hotel Lirico is in a good location and within walking distance to the train station. The street is nice and not too busy with traffic. The hotel is located next to the Teatro dell'Opera, Rome's Opera House. Most of the historic sites are within walking distance and there is a Metro stop nearby.

Most of the staff can speak English and all were helpful. However, at check-in, the desk clerk tried to charge me 5% more unless I paid cash, so make sure you have confirmation documentation with you. You also have to ask for the Rome map, tour guide and welcome drinks that are promised. Wi-Fi access is provided in the room.

The room and bathroom were very clean and well decorated. The room size was small for three people, although I understand that this is typical for the price I paid. It was unusually hot during our trip and unfortunately the air conditioner broke. Since it was the weekend, it couldn't be fixed until Monday. Staff gave us a fan to use and the nights were cool, so it was pretty comfortable. But, with the window open, it was kind of noisy and I got some mosquito bites. At check-out I asked for a discount for the inconvenience of no air conditioning for three nights and 50 Euros was taken off my bill.

The breakfast was very good - European continental. All hot drinks - café, coffee, cappuccino, etc. - were served at the table. The breakfast area was a little small but not overcrowded. We had a very nice waiter/porter. He was always pleasant and helpful. He even tried to fix the air conditioner for us.

All in all, for a three star hotel in Rome and the price we paid, we were very satisfied. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. The rooms are clean and the personel in the hotel is friendly. It is a situated near a subway station and the central station of Rome. A small lift is available from the 1st floor, were the reception is. If you are looking for a nice small not to expenive hotel to explore Rome we can recommend Hotel Lirico.

Small hotel close to station. Room was clean and I liked bathroom much. Breakfast was perfect, not to much but a good start with various things. Room was cleaned early so often finish first trip it was just to lay down in cleaned room. Personal very friendly and helpful. A good hotel for a resonably price.

We booked a room the hotel's website with no problems. Quoted price was the price I paid. The Lirico is less than 10 minutes walking distance from Rome's main train station. You can walk to all the major sites in less than 25 minutes (Trevi Fountain, Coliseum, Forum, Pantheon are all about 15 minutes walking) The only site we didn't walk to from the Lirico was the Vatican.
The room was clean when we got there the housekeepers kept it clean daily.
As is the case for most of Europe, the hotel is located up a flight of 30 or so stairs so be prepared to lug your bags up when you get there.
Again, we're talking about Europe so you can expect two twin beds if you book a double and there is a tiny shower that you might have a tough time getting into if you weigh more than maybe 220 lbs.
Soap and shampoo is included.
We didn't realize what a great quality this was until several hotels later in the trip, but the walls are upholstered which keeps the volume level down. (other Italian hotel rooms we stayed in were very "echoey", forcing us to whisper and get "shooshed" by other guests)
The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially during breakfast.
One note.. we took a dinner recommendation from Tony at the front desk and were extremely dissapointed. It was for a place just a couple doors down and he probably got some sort of kickback for sending us there.
To sum up, the Lirico offers a great location for a decent price. I would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is a good deal if you want an excellent location without spending a gazillion euros/dollars. The staff speak English well and are friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and attractive. We found the mattress to be hard by our standards, but after the usual type of sightseeing people typically do in Rome, we noted to each other the hard bed but then conked out for the night. The continental breakfast with cereals, fruit, yogurt, rolls, croissants and different drinks seemed fine to us. We walked to the colosseum and tooked the metro a couple of blocks away to get to the Vatican. There are stairs to climb from the entrance to the lobby which might be a problem for some but I think the staff would help with luggage if asked. This hotel would not be a good choice for those with mobility issues. There is a small elevator from the lobby to upper floors.
