I stayed here four nights in mid-April. The hotel is easy to get to from Piazza della Repubblica metro station, a bit of a hike from Termini station if you have luggage.

The single room I had was "cozy" - small but there was a closet large enough for me and a desk. Flat screen TVs had CNN/BBC, that was nice - just realize that you have to turn it on from the top of the screen. Remote only works to change channels, volume.

Bathroom was marble, very nice, but the weirdest layout. They crammed sink, bidet, toilet and tub into a tiny room. Use caution taking a shower - water easily gets allover the floor (so THAT's why there's a drain in the middle of the marble floor!) and it is SLICK when wet.

Housekeeping was excellent. Room was very clean.

Even though the reception staff wasn't very friendly, I'd stay here again.

Needed a hotel at a reasonable price for just two nights. Location wasn't bad and the price was good. Near train station and restaurants. Room was huge but bathoom small. Weird bathroom set up. Bidet and toilet facing each other about six inches away from the bathtub which was very high to climb into. Breakfast was the worst (canned fruit cocktail!). Public area small but nice decor and front desk was helpful. Arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport. Let them know a day ahead.

This hotel is a good value for its location, clealiness, and helpful staff. Our room was small but it was very clean. The bathroom was a good size and modern. We laughed at the thin towels but they did the job. The staff was very helpful in recommending places to eat. The elevator only goes to the 4th floor and it is very small - two people at the most with small luggage. Don't take a room on the 5th floor unless you can do stairs. The breakfast is average and only has six tables. (The elevator doesn't go to the basement either) I sat on the stairs enjoying my coffee until a table became free - perhaps a 10 minute wait. We wanted to be near Termini (the main train station) due to an early flight out and excess to good public transportation. This is the place!

The Patria hotel couldn’t be better located with clean and comfortable rooms.

Breakfast was more than adequate. Help yourself to cornflakes, fruit salad, ham, croissant, rolls, honey and jam. The breakfast room may be small (6 tables) but even at busy times the wait was only a few minutes.

The staff were friendly and helpful looking after our luggage after check out and were more than happy to let us watch the 6 Nations Rugby in the hotel lounge area till 5pm (when we had to catch our bus to the airport).

The Hotel is a 10 min walk from the Termini. If you get off the airport bus from Ciampino walk back along the Via Marsala and cut through the Termini. Leaving by the front door, follow the footpath straight past the bus station (on your left) and cross the main road. Go left and follow the footpath round to the right. At the fountain in the Piazza della Repubblica cross the road into Via Nazionale. Take the first right into Via Torino and you will see the Patria Hotel sign.

If you can visit Settimio in Via Delle Cononnelle (just off the Piazza Capranica) for an excellent meal in a restaurant full of Italians. Try to get one of the 4 tables in the front room where you will be served by ‘Papa’ who makes the experience even better.
