Just back from a 4 night stay at Tirreno hotel. Overall experience was good. This hotel is centrally located in a quiet side street very close to 2 metro stations and about a 10min walk to the Termini. The hotel itself is fine - there is nothing extra-ordinary about the place but it is clean and central. Breakast is average - croissants and tea/coffee. There is a lovely terrace garden which is very quiet and relaxing. Our room was quite small but that didn't bother us as we didn't really have much luggage, we did however have a balcony which was great to sit out on. The room also had a much needed air con system. All in all, i would happily stay in this hotel again if i was back in Rome, and would recommend it to friends and family as a good mid-price hotel but it would not automatically be my number one choice for Rome. It is also worth mentioning that they did giveus 5% discount for paying cash.

Myself and three other family members have just returned home after a wonderful four-night stay at Hotel Tirreno. The whole experience was nothing but positive. The hotel is well located in a quiet street and within walking distance of two Metro stations. We had a good-sized quadruple room, which was spotlessly clean when we first entered it. It was maintained to this standard through the daily cleaning, changing of sheets and towels. The hotel in general was always clean, tidy and welcoming. The shower was the best I have come across in a hotel. The cubicle was of a good size and the performance of the shower itself was excellent in terms of force and temperature selection. All the staff at the reception desk spoke good English, were always courteous and willing and able to help with directions, transport to the airport etc. Even the breakfast was perfectly acceptable. As an added bonus, there is a very good pizza outlet a few metres down the street offering excellent value for money! Overall, I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again in the future.

My family and I stayed here in January. Two adults and three teenagers. It was a breath of fresh air after being in Paris. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, they even gave us a tourist map and highlighted it with suggestions without being asked. We were given a family room which opened onto a garden. It was more like a small apartment. Lovely. Breakfast is very good. Everybody we dealt with in the hotel was friendly and helpful. they all smiled. Excellent location. Only 10 mins walk from the Colosseum. A great pizza place 20m down the road and a choice of restaurants around the corner. If I go back to Rome I will stay there again.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Tirreno in Rome.

After spending several days in Italy prior to my arrival, I was really dissappointed with the overall condition of the rooms.

The beds were terribly uncomfortable! And there was no hot water for showers, unless you got up at the crack of dawn.

On the website it staes that it is centrally located, however, get ready to walk 20 minutes to get to any of the tourist locations. The metro station is close by, if you are up to navigating the metro rail system.

I would only stay here as a last resort.

I stayed here last week in a 2 bedroom one bath room for 265 euros a night. The price seemed a bit high for what we got but that may be the going rate in Rome I guess. There is a big breakfast room with free continental breakfast which is nice. It was clean and has an elevator. The location is OK - between the train station and the Coluseeum and near santa maria maggiori church. They do accept credit cards but charge a 5% extra fee.

Management response from Tirreno, Reservation Manager

Hi, thanks for the good review.
I'd just like to clear up that we don't charge any 5 % extra for credit cards' payment but we offer a 5 % discount for cash.
Thanks
