We stayed in the Hotel Mondial four nights before embarking on a Mediterranean cruise for our 50th anniversary. We booked the hotel online through Best Western and had no trouble with our pre-paid reservation. The room with queen size bed was comfortable and quiet with a modern tiled bathroom with sink, shower, toilet, and bidet. Internet wireless or wired service was free but had to be arranged with the front desk daily in blocks of time. The service and food for the complimentary buffet breakfast were excellent. The bar offered a dinner delivery menu from a nearby restaurant which we did not use. Nor did we use room service. Drinks in the bar were average for Rome, about 5 euros. The bar was usually vacant. Too many other places in the neighborhood. The lobby restrooms were modern and spotless and the seating area was spacious and quiet. The two lifts were small, 4-5 persons max, but reliable, and big enough for wheelchair and companion. The hotel has parking in back which we did not use. We had dinner nearby two nights and took a taxi to others the other two. There is a friendly coffee and wine bar next door with sidewalk seating across from the Opera House. The hotel staff was very attentive and spoke excellent English, certainly better than my Italian. We would stay there again and will recommend it to our travel agent as a moderately priced, medium size, modern hotel in a convenient location near Plaza Republica and the Opera House.
