We stayed for three nights. The location is excellent on a quiet side street not far from train station. Can walk to most places and the metro station Republica is only steps away. Room size is adequate for a hotel in a large European city. However, the furnishing, carpet and decoration need major refurbishing. Bathroom is old and needs updating -- more like a bathroom for a 2 1/2* hotel. Services are average. Front desk staff will provide the necessary services or information when asked. They would not volunteer the free services per online reservation agreements e.g. internet, coffee. Breakfast is good and adequate. Overall, the hotel is not a 4* hotel but is quite adequate for non-discriminating travelers visiting Rome for a few days.

Picked for location and value, all major sights within 45 minute walk (most only 20mins). Some trepidation as result of some of reviews. Spent lovely 5 nights, and 5 walking days seeing breathtaking Rome. Couldn't fault staff. All very helpful. Yes 3 star, not 4, but fine. Opera house 100m away, but saw Carmina Burana performed in St Paul's within the walls - mindblowing performance in fantastic setting 5 mins walk down Via Nazionale. Agree with one reviewer Cotto restaurant next door - friendly, relaxed, simply tasty food and lovely house wine. Did try farther afield - and DK guide recommended restaurants- disappointing compared with Cotto.

was a bit nervous due to some of the bad reviews but no worries whatsoever. average size clean room and bathroom a fantastic location 7 mins from termini sation and 2 mins from republic metro. walked everywhere ( colleseum, trevi, spanish steps)except the vatican. Take a hop on hop off bus 16 euros from kiosks to get birds eye view of Rome. Eat at est! est! est! on the via genova a few blocks away from hotel. lunch at a pizzeria cafe on the via milano was good too.

This is a good 4 star hotel that is now due some refurbishment. We stayed at Mondial in 2003 and found it quite excellent - pristine rooms and bedlinen changed every day. The glory has faded a little but it is STILL a very good hotel that I would heartily recommend. It was very clean with a good buffet breakfast room. The rooms are fitted with personal safes and are quite spacious (we stayed in 413). On this occasion the bedlinen was changed every other day, but I'd say that's about the industry standard and perfectly acceptable. Our room was fitted with shower but no bath, which was acceptable to us but if you wish a bath (which we had when we previously stayed) it's worth specifying in advance.
