Hotel was central to all areas a daily bus/ metro ticket can be purchased for 4 euros, plenty of little tavernas around,without being too expensive. The hotel staff are friendly all it takes is a smile and you will get whatever you require, tea and coffee facilities in your room are free just ask, also slippers, face flannels and pillows. The breakfast is fine lots of fruit,yogs ,rolls, the normal fare available , just be pleasant, I even got some china cups for our tea to take to the room! They arranged a cab to the airport 55 euros, clean fast service. Stayed 3 days and did whirlwind tour of the sights , the Campo Fiori area is worth a visit for the cafe society and eating , the market is great and fab bakeries, walk across to the jewish sector and then catch a bus to St Petro. The Collesium area is awesome ,forum, near the Monument a Vittotio Emanuele, lots to see there. Spent 3rd day seeing the Trevi , Spanish steps, Piazza Popolo walked down the Via Corso, to the Pantheon, bus back to rest then out for the evening to your favourite spot. Enjoy ,if on a budget use side street cafes or have your coffee standing at the bar, keep walking!!

We stopped at the best western mondial for 3 nights 29th jan-1st feb.
This was our second visit to rome and we were amazed at the cost of things. The poor exchange rate was probably to blame, but £50 in a taxi from Ciampino Airport i thought was a rip off.
The hotel itself is located just off Via Nazionale and is in a great location.
We arrived at 11.30am and were told check-in was midday which was fine, so we went for a stroll and came back at midday.
The room still wasn't ready and were told 10-15 mins, nearly an hour later we were told the room was ready. The delay wasn't the end of the world but a bit annoying.
The rooms were fine, we were in room 201 which had a large bathroom, tv, internet, safe etc, the beds were ok, a bit on the hard side but slept quite well.
We asked for tea/coffee making facilities and picked them up from the bar. The plastic cups wern't great, china cups would have been better.
The heating wasn't working at first and the rooms were cold, we rang down to reception and soon after a flick of a switch it was working fine.
Breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice from sausage, bacon and scrambled egg to fruits, toast, bred rolls, yoghurts, jams, croissants, cakes etc.
The staff were all polite and helpful.

Overall we would definately recommend the hotel, it might need a touch up here and there but overall for the price it was great.

I was anxious about having booked this hotel (c/o Airmiles) after reading some of the reviews on this site - but heartened by more recent ones just before our stay.
In fact we were delighted with the hotel - it may be a bit old and tired looking, but it was clean and comfortable, with a warm atmosphere. Our room was nicely lit, not too small, and we had a very big bathroom with elegant (albeit ageing) fittings. Bed was slightly firm as someone else remarked, but the room was quiet and we were comfortable in it.
Oh - and most important - when I phoned down for the kettle to be delivered it arrived seconds later, courtesy of a very smiley member of staff.
Breakfast was good - especially as it was included in the price of our deal, and we got an extremely good rate with our airmiles (although we really didn't think the room was worth the 340 euros quoted in the tarif - we got it for a fraction of that). The hotel is a short walk from Termini station, and across the road from the opera. We managed to buy tickets on the day, to see Aida, and it's a beautiful theatre. We ate at Giglio in our road (smart restaurant, elegant interior and good service but only mediocre food - good enough for after the opera), La Gallina Bianca ('the white chicken') in nearby via Antonio Rosmini (very good pizzas and mostly local families when we were there), and, for a special treat, Gusto, over in piazza augusto imperatore - which is a great restaurant, albeit a metro journey away. Bottom line: we definitely recommend the hotel if it's offered on a cheap deal.

I had searched the Internet for weeks and found these reviews invaluable.
I find it only fair to now add my own findings.
Excellent central location to shops, bars, train and metro station.
All major sites within easy walking distance.
Hotel very clean and the lounge/bar area most comfortable.
The bar man on duty was excellent company and couldn't be more helpful.
The room was on the small side and we had to arrange some sort of one-way system to walk around the bedroom but it was not a problem for the small amount of time we spent in there!.
The bed linen was changed every day but we did find the bed a little on the hard side.
The bathroom was also small but very clean.
There was no tea/coffee making facilities on arrival but one call to reception and it was delivered to our room.
We had paid for breakfast and we had a large selection to choose from and it was very nice.
All the staff were very polite and friendly and even arranged a courier taxi back to the airport .
The only negative was the two very small and ancient lifts!
Excellent value for money and would without a doubt return.
