Hotel overall is very nice. Probably 3.5 stars on a US scale. Great breakfast buffet. Beautiful lobby. Our triple room was large, with a large bathroom. The fixed shower head was mounted at an appropriate height for dwarfs, though.

The room does not seem to be dusted very often. There was a large amount of dust everywhere. Same for vacuuming under the bed.

Location right next to the Termini railway/Metro/bus station is very convenient. Safe area with plenty of affordable restaurants in the side streets around the hotel.

Beware of the taxi fare from/to Ciampino airport: this amounts to a fixed $30 for any destination inside the old city walls (is written into City law and can be found on the sheets on the back of the seats in the taxi). For Da Vinci airport it is $40. When we took the cab, the driver charged us $30 to the old city wall, and then turned on the meter for another $14 more. On the way back, we had an honest taxi driver who explained the system. Overall not a big deal, but being taken advantage of as a visitor just torques me off. Shame on dishonest taxi drivers.

Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay in Rome.

Great hotel, excellent location, friendly staff, very clean rooms. We would definately stay at this hotel again.
However the restaurant in the 10th floor is ordinary and too expensive, and we experienced the internet connection to be almost non-excisting and overpriced.

Eight of us recently stayed at the Mediterraneo Hotel in Rome for Spring Break. We chose this hotel because of it's location to the Stazione Metro (where all the trains, subways, buses meet) because we were traveling with my elederly parents (in their 80's) and we wanted to limit their walking. Plus this hotel had good reviews. We were extremely pleased with this hotel. The staff was great, the rooms were lovely although a little dated and they were very clean and comfortable. The rooms were larger than some of the paris hotels we have stayed in. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic! Awesome coffee machine and a large food/drink selection. We felt quite safe and walked late at night on several occassions. The area around the Stazione Metro can be a little seedy, but that was not the same with the area around the hotel. Even so, we walked late at night around the Metro station too with no problems. Sometimes, it would be just me and my sisters and we always felt safe. Great places to shop for souveneirs around the area and we walked all the way to the Coliseium at least twice. It's not very close, but not extremely far. We all highly recommend this hotel!! Great base to see all of Rome!

Had a good holiday, Hotel is just 3 minutes walk from the termini, which is the main train / bus station. Great when you are carrying luggage.
It is easy to get around the whole city from there. Our room was large and very clean , loads of places to eat in the area, which gives you the option to eat in or out on foot.

Classical Roman hotel, well situated to transport hub (coach/train/metro) and for exploring the city itself.

Despite the size of our party, we were allocated five rooms all on the eigth floor, far enough away from what is a very busy main street into the central transport hub that is Terminus rail/metro, coach and bus stations.
We arrived as part of a larger group of 30+ and our courier had already made the necessary arrangements for key collection, so it is not practical to say how Reception would have managed our check-in. However, check-out was done individually and this was polite, quick and efficient.
Our stay included breakfast which was comprehensive and varied to suit most tastes, from juices, cereals, croissants, various bread and rolls plus condiments, through to cooked meats and cheeses, to bacon & scrambled eggs, fruit or yoghurt. Less satisfactory was the single coffee dispensing machine which produced excellent but slow results - there was invariably a queue for this and I recall from a visit two years ago, that the staff then would walk the room with coffee and tea pots, which was far more efficient.
On a note of caution, the hotel is not very "access all areas" i.e. for those in a wheelchair or with a walking disability: there are lifts to all floors - including the roof terrace and restaurant - but the ground floor foyer facilities (breakfast room, bar, seating areas) are all accessed by a short flight of stairs opposite reception.
The ensuite bedroom was excellent, well cleaned on arrival and maintained daily throughout our stay. It was good to have plenty of storage space with a wardrobe and drawers, bedside table, writing desk, plus dressing table, tv, coffee table and chairs. The bathroom was on the small side but adequate. The air-con appeared to be set to its winter function of heating only, rather than cooling, so it was Plan B (opening the window) but I guess that on the lower floors this option would be less suitable, due to traffic and street noise. I would also recommend a room above numbers -01 to -10, as these are nearest the elevators and friends found the incessant "bong" of their arrival wearisome, despite the double-doors that are fitted to the bedrooms. By contrast, further along the corridor in the rooms numbered from -11 upwards, I was not disturbed by this noise.
The staff whom I encountered during my stay all appeared to be friendly and helpful, from the maid to the bar waiters and breakfast room waitresses, dealing promptly with our requests and fully meeting our needs.
Overall, the Mediterraneo proved a very satisfactory and convenient hotel for the price.
