I travelled with my two children aged 9 and 6. We got 50% off through Expedia. The staff were very welcoming and took us to our room which looked out over a brick wall (but we did get 50% off.) It was super-clean which I really appreciated. I have stayed at hotels where I don't want to take my shoes off! There was no noise from traffic or neighbouring rooms and there were plenty of other guests. The beds were comfortable (not so common in Rome), lovely clean sheets and tons of towels. The three beds were already set up (unlike other hotels we stayed in there). They offered us a free drink at the wonderful bar at the top of the hotel which looks out over the roman ruins and the massive Vittorio Emanuel memorial building. They weren't particularly helpful on recommending a good place to eat with kids, but they did lend us umbrellas and didn't make me feel like the kids were annoying. There weren't any other children at the hotel though. Breakfast was at the top of the hotel so you get an amazing view. Hotel decor was pleasant enough but a bit old fashioned - perhaps that's to be expected considering it's located next to 2000 year old ruins. It's close to everywhere and we pretty much walked all over Rome from here. Thank you Hotel Forum, we had a good stay.

Stayed here in September . What a location and the views were unbeatable. Well located to explore all the sites of rome. Staff were excellent and the rooms were top class and well serviced. Have to say also that the service and friendly atmosphere in the rooftop bar at night was brilliant.Well worth a visit . I know I will return

Service at the front desk and at breakfast was impeccable -- friendly, polite, helpful. Room was comfortable in an old-fashioned brocade-curtains, oriental rugs style. The breakfast (included) featured fresh-squeezed orange juice, eggs, mozarella, fresh fruit. As a solo woman traveller I felt both safe and well-treated during my 6-day stay.

My only criticism is the cheesy 1970's lounge type music playing in the bar and restaurant.

I picked this hotel because it recieved great reviews. To my shock, the experience was so bad that I actually changed hotels. I'm all about "when in rome" and have stayed in many different hotels around the world, ie: I know European rooms are small. That said, I don't feel that clients should have to put up with a dirty room (urine on the toilet seat ) and a bathroom that reeked of sewage. I didn't mind that the room was small, it was the fact it was dirty and the decor wasn't vintage, it was just cheap, old and unclean. I never rate hotels online, but felt the need to warn people about the actual room vs. the reviews online. Further the restaurant is very overpriced, an appetizer is nearly 35 USD. I do agree with most folks when they say the location of this hotel is primo, it is, see enclosed view from room window. When I checked in, I was excited about the location and the lobby was charming and clean in appearance; but I was "floored" when I entered my room - I still can't believe I paid $350/night for something compariable to a truckstop hotel room --- but smaller. It is very clear that the management of this hotel needs to sink some of their profits into room improvements and lowering their prices.

Management response from DirezioneRoma, Direzione

Dear Guest,

We are astounded and somewhat upset that the comments you made of the cleanliness of your room was not brought to the attention of the hotel management immediately. We try to resolve any disservice to our guests straight away.
Although it may be of limited comfort to you, we certainly feel that this is a "one-off" and unreservedly apologise.
As you mention the hotel has a prime location, but that alone is not enough to make any stay memorable, and we are fully aware that our lack of attention to details could even sour one's memories of Rome.
The hotel owners continually ensure that there is ongoing maintenance and investment within the whole property with full compliance to keep the strict planning requirements of the historical centre of Rome.
We have noted your comments regarding the prices in our Roof Top Terrace Restaurant, but feel that we are in-line with comparative restaurants in Rome.

This charming hotel is everything that was described by other travelers. No need for public transportation or taxis - we could walk to all the major attractions. The room was spacious with a window that opened right on to the Forum of Augustus. We could take photos of almost the entire Forum area right from our room. Adored the roof top restaurant and American bar so much we ate there 3 of the 4 evenings. Hotel and Restaurant staff were superb. We noticed that many of the people eating at the restaurant were Italian business people so we presume this was not just another tourist spot. After eating near the hustle-bustle of Piazza Espagna we were happy to return to the relative quiet of the Forum. We would return here in a heart beat - even if the bathroom light bulb was burned out the entire time we were there. It's pure Italy.

As you mentioned, it is so easy to walk around the local area to see most of the important archaelogical sites of Ancient Rome and from our rooms you can take in that special air. Thank you for your appreciative comments regarding our restaurant, our dedicated employees and the magnificient bar with its view over roof-tops of Rome.
We look forward to welcoming you again on your next visit to Rome.
