Over all our stay was pleasant here except for most of the staff. They didn't really seem to want to go out of there way for you at all, and in this economy, I'm surprised. The decor was lovely and old fashioned and the breakfast room on the top floor served an abundant breakfast in a beautiful roof-top setting. The location was great for Ancient Rome and the hop-on, hop-off bus made it easy to get a start to everywhere else for us.

I think if the staff was not so aloof this hotel would have way better ratings.
Overall thoug ,since we are not a real needy bunch, this was a nice place.

I read soooo many reviews on so many hotels before I left and FINALLY it's my turn. This hotel has a great location, is very clean, and we were overall very pleased with our choice. The only thing that could have been a little bit better would have been the front desk people. They were nice, but not overly concerned with helping out. But don't get me wrong, they were not rude to us in any way. It is only a few blocks from the colosseum and across the street from the Forum. Trevi and Pantheon are easily accessible, don't worry about that at all. We stayed at another hotel near Trevi when we came back to Rome (Hotel Fontana) which was just AWFUL. We wished we would've gone back to Hotel Forum.
Breakfasts were very nice on the roof top. I would suggest being vigilant if you have dinner there or have drinks in the American Bar (on the rooftop as well) because the prices are just incredible. Italy in general is expensive but these were just out of this world expensive. My wife and I had two drinks at the Bar (a mojito and a caipairina) and it cost 26 Euros which is about 37 American Dollars. We had a room with a view of the Forum (right on the corner above the sign) on the first floor. I think it was a superior room and spent 180 Euros. It was a good value and did get what we paid for it. The room was very spacious, tv was a bit small but it was a flat screen. Good size bathroom and great view from the bathroom window. If you have questions feel free to contact me.

yes yes the view from the terrace is absolutely unforgettable and so will be your breakfasts taken facing Rome's eternity. The hotel itself is just not a four star though. Indeed beds are comfortable and rooms are light, if a bit small. But the finishings are crude (the TV and the minibar looked as old as the forum) and the hygiene was not impeccable. Service is moderately friendly, really depends who is at the reception. The free aperitivo on the terrace for the first night is a nice touch of hospitality. Sot if you get a good rate (I paid about 140€) then go for it because indeed you will hold on to the view for a long time...

Our visit was for our honeymoon. The location is excellent we walked everywhere except out visit to the Vatican where we decided to take the bus, BIG mistake!! three buses later we finally arrived, not sure what stop to get off at, there was a long walk to the front of the museum where we were to meet our guide which made us late for our guided tour we had paid for in advance, I did however manage to find one of the reps from our tour company, we were offered the next tour which was at 2pm but knowing there was a lot to see there we wanted to get in, luckily I had downloaded Rick Steves audio guide which saved the day. The old city is wonderful so many great things to see our location made it all so accessable. The reception staff were helpful I had a problem with my luggage not arriving for 5 days they phoned through several times for me as language was a problem, My only gripe is the cleaning of the rooms could be better.

After seeing lots of room availability at the Inn at the Roman Forum on that hotel's website, we ventured into Rome for two nights after two weeks of travel in Italy - without a hotel reservation (on Sunday, July 5). When we arrived at the Inn, they said they were full for the two nights, except their most expensive room was available for the first night. We turned that down, and went to Hotel Nerva (guided by an old Frommer's book). I won't go into details here, but we wanted out after taking our showers at Nerva. Fortunately, on our way back from dinner, we strolled right by the Hotel Forum, which is just half a block down from the Nerva. It's a 4-star hotel with comparable-level service, very grand (albeit old-syle), and costs just 160-170 euro per night for a sizable room and bathroom that was very nicely appointed. They had availability for our two nights, but we waited until the morning to move in. The hotel is just steps from the Forum, a 20+ minute walk to Campo di Fioro, and a 20 minute walk up Via Corso to the Spanish steps. On the top floor (5th floor) is a very nice restaurant (breakfast was included) with a spectacular view of the forum. My only complaint is that the shower took a couple of minutes before it delivered hot water. We were a bit depressed at the Hotel Nerva. I wish we had approached Nerva from the opposite direction so that we could have had two nights at the Hotel Forum rather than one.
