Due to a sudden change in our travel plans, we needed to find accommodation urgently in Rome one Friday afternoon. The Forum was recommended in our guide and so we telephoned asking for a booking. We were offered a really good deal for a double room that was large by Italian standards. It wasn't cheap but represented very good value for money. As others have said, the roof top bar was very beautiful and the bar tender was courteous and gracious. Breakfast, with a superb view over the Forum, was excellent with a wide range of beautiful dishes. We would certainly stay here again.

Couldn't fault the hotel or the staff.
No problems with anything.
Staff very helpful.
Location excellent.
Across the road from the Forum and Palatine Hill.
5 mins walk to the Colusseum.
An hours stroll to the Vatican and St Peters.
Trevi Fountain about 20 mins if that.
In fact everywhere we went was walkable, didn't use transport at all.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I just returned yesterday from 3 nights in Rome at the Forum. The Forum is exceptionally well situated for the Colosseum, Forum, and Palantine Hills as well as seconds away from a number of basic restaurants, convenience stores, pizza and gelato shops. Every other touristy site in Rome involves a bus/tube ride. All bus/tube connections are close as everything goes by the Colosseum.

The lobby/entry is well appointed with dark woods, marble floors and leather furniture. The staff are professional and helpful, if not particularly outgoing or friendly.

We had to change rooms upon arrival as the air con was not working properly. The staff had no problem making the change and moving our belongings. The new room was fine, not particularly large or exceptionally well-appointed but clean and comfortable (two twin beds together to make a large bed-not uncommon in the area). There was a large wardrobe for storage.

Street noise was there but not a real problem. We of course could hear people wandering up and down the halls but no noise from other rooms or too late at night.

The roof top breakfast was quite good we thought-same food each day but decent variety and quality. Unbeatable view.

Upon checkout they were happy to store our bags all day as our plane was not leaving until 9:00pm.

Final verdict? Not mind-blowing but certainly more than adequate-no major complaints.

As you would expect with a hotel bearing this name, it sits next door to the Forum complex in Rome and within easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions in this part of the city. Travel to the Vatican area by tram, bus or use the 'hop on / off' tourist bus facility.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful for infomation on tours, directions, taxi's etc... and the next major plus point was the roof top bar and restaurant. The substantial breakfast is also served here, a great way to start the day.
With travelling in August the ac was a must and did not disappoint. As with most city centre hotels, the room was not huge, but served it's purpose and was clean.

Would certainly use this hotel again when visiting Rome.

I stayed in this hotel for 9 nights in late June 2008. I was here for work and vacation, and the location was superb for both. I love to walk, and since this hotel is centrally located, I was in heaven. The air conditioning is very good and I stayed in the middle of a significant heat wave. Breakfast is good and the roof-top restaurant is very nice although dinner is significantly overpriced. The bar on the roof is very nice. My only real complaint is the cleaning staff starts very early, near 6AM, and they are very loud and boisterous. This is not so unexpected, although they do enter your room without any knocking or announcement, so its very important to leave out your "do not disturb" sign regardless of the time of day. I was in the shower when the staff walked in unannounced....

  • Liked — The location was excellent and the air condition was good.
  • Disliked — The noise of the cleaning staff.
