Spent three nights here this week and had a wonderful stay! Three reasons: location, comfortable room and unbelievable service!
Location: directly across the street from the Forum, Colosseum, Palatine Hill and several museums, monuments and other attractions. Numerous restaurants, Tabacchi shop (buy metro tickets here), less than 10minute walk to Coloseo Metro or hopon hopoff bus stops. Next door to hotel is a great little shop namedd Paola where we bought wine, bottled water, olive oil and pasta. Owner was so nice he picked out bottles of wine for us every night and gave us a free bottle of champagne on our last night!
Room: We upgraded our room to have a view, a kingsize bed and breakfast every morning. Room was large by European standards, air conditioner worked great! Free wi-fi in room worked great. Room had a safe, minibar, a window that opened onto a great view of the Roman Forum, bathroom was adequate with a bath/shower, bidet, toilet, one sink, shelves to put cosmetics, toothbrush etc, and had hairdryer. Room was very quiet also. Hotel Forum is an elegant older hotel with beautiful wooden staircases and antique furnishings, two elevators, and a beautiful rootop restaurant plus an open bar one stairclimb above. Received coupon for two free glasses of wine in upstairs bar when we checked in. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant was the highlight of our mornings, very peaceful with beautiful views plus full buffet with eggs, meats, fresh juices, fruits, cereal, yogurt, and yummy homemade coffeecakes, croissants, muffins and breads. The rooftop open bar was lovely and we had a drink there each night (bartender there was also very friendly). Had a lemoncello one night and it arrived in a frosty frozen glass--yum!
Service: I can't say enough about the top rate service. We requested an early checkin when we booked our room thru their website and when we arrived at the hotel at 10:00am after flying all night, we were stunned and delighted when they found us a room within 15minutes! Each day we talked to Roberto at the front desk and he helped us by booking tours and providing instructions to find restaurants, the HOHO bus, the Metro and other attractions. We wanted to go to Tivoli one day and when the tour he found for us didn't met our needs he wrote out detailed instructions on how to get there using the metro and bus on our own, including giving us detailed instructions on where and how to buy both metro tickets and bus tickets, and even made sure we had his name and the hotel phone number in case we had a problem. He always found time to talk to us each day and answer any questions we had. He is a perfect example of the best customer service!! I woule definitely stay here again!
