We were here for two different nights with our tour group on our honeymoon. The lobby is beautiful and we were excited until we got to our twin bed room! We asked for a double and the man at the desk said no. We ended up swapping with a mother/daughter who got a double bed! The room is minimal, the a/c turned off by itself overnight leaving the room stifling by morning, and the light switch near the door didn't wire to anything in the room! We too, were upset with the noise level as we were able to watch CNN without the sound on because the man in the next room had it on as well. Having just come from Gran Paradiso is Sorrento (EXCELLENT!) where a free shuttle ran 7 times a day, we were a bit surprised to pay 4 Euro a piece for a shuttle that left us in Rome for either 3 hours or 5. However, we had a delicious sandwich and fries at the cafe in the lobby (but it took 35 minutes, so don't order if you're in a hurry!).

Finding the Hotel Pineta Palace in the first place is the scariest ordeal about this hotel. It would probably be best to ride the Metro to the Cornelia stop on the A Line and do yourself a favor and get a cab for the rest of the journey. We tried taking the bus, went the wrong direction and then fnally after getting on another bus, the driver dropped us off in the area, but we had no idea from then on where the hotel was. In fact, a sign on the main road is misleading and would take you away from the motel. Even a taxi driver noticed us and took time to stop to tell us we were walking the wrong way.

Once you get there the transportation is easy as they offer a very inexpensive shuttle service to the Vatican and to downtown.

We had read reviews that the staff here was rude or grumpy. We found NO one like this at all. From the two ladies in the bar where we ordered some pretty good food, to the waiters in their excellent restaurant where we had a delightful dinner, to the very helpful staff at the desk, who I made a point to be polite too, all responded as equally polite. Come up to these people and ask them how they are and you will get a much better reception than others who complained about them being unpleasant.

There is also a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant just up the street a few blocks from the hotel. My sister and I were the only non locals there.
When you come out of the hotel lobby to the right is a road and a residential parking lot. Take the road (don't head in the direction of the parking lot)down about six or seven blocks. The restaurant is excellent and the service was very good. It is actually quite large inside, but we chose to sit under the outside awning. The food was reasonably priced too. You can't go wrong here.

I am not one to rip a place apart and I feel like I see the good in most hotels and so I just gave credit where it was due. Our room was clean and comfortable and I didn't have a issue with the stool being too close to the sink like others have in these reviews. Some people plainly have nothing nice to say about a place and everything has to be kept in perspective here.

But now for the unpleasant part......The room noise at night was purely unbearable. We could hear the guy next door coughing like he was standing in the room. People roamed up and down the halls on their cell phones at all hours of the night talking in their normal voices that sounded like they were right by the bed. As many have written before.....the walls are paper, paper, paper thin. If you are a light sleeper, you will be a non sleeper. My sister sat up in the lobby all night because of the noise coming from everywhere. People kept moving furniture across the tile floors above us at ridiculous hours of the night. The experience was horrible.
This would have been a fine hotel if it weren't for the inabilty to sleep. That is why you stay in a motel, because you are dog tired from running around all day and you need sleep to re-energize for the next day. Unless you are in a coma, you will not sleep in this hotel. Period. Take along some Ambien if you plan on staying at the Pineta Palace.

Like most Italian hotels, they made us rent 2 rooms for our family of 5. When we arrived, the rooms were not near each other and one of them smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. We begged for a change of rooms and got one closer to our other room.

The front desk clerks seemed a bit unpleasant. Our kids affectionately named them "Helga and the Burgermeister." The lobby was a little more spacious than most European hotels.

The hotel was extremely hard to find. We kept our car parked in the convenient parking garage under the hotel. We used taxis and the shuttle to get us into town. We once walked to the little pizza restaurant roughly a quarter mile away, which was the only eatery within walking distance. The hotel had an OK restaurant though.

The view was of the old apartment buildings nearby and the entire surroundings were generally distasteful.

The typical European breakfast fare was not liked by the others in my family, but I liked it.

Thankfully we purchased Expedia's cancellation coverage. We cut our stay from 3 nights down to 2 because we wanted to leave Rome and see other places.

We'll consider many other hotels before we go back there again.

I have just come back from the Pinetal Palace with my son from a 5 day break, I found the hotel nice, no problem with the staff, It is a little out of the way but they do a good shuttle service leaving different times throughout the day and the same on the return, only once the shuttle failed to appear but the hotel gave us all free drinks as it was our last day or they give you free tickets for it, normal cost 8 euros.
The taxis we found were a very reasonable price about 10 euros for a return trip from the city, i was very worried after reading a lot of the reviews about this hotel but we were very pleasently surprised.

My mother and I stayed at the Hotel for a week in June. We booked a taxi on line before leaving the UKto pick us up from Ciampino Airport. We got the hotel in about half an hour. We had booked a Twin Room but found that we were given a double the reception desk said that they would sort out the problem in the morning when the maids came around which they did. Breakfast was lovely and there was a large variety to choose from, although it would have been nice to have fish occasionally especially if you don't eat pork. The hotel provides a bus service to take you into the city centre which only cost 3 euros return. We managed to see almost everything in Rome with the map that the hotel provided and the bus service ran about 6 times each day. Everyone working in the hotel was friendly polite and helpful. The only problem we encountered is that the walls are thin which we noticed as we had a noisy neighbour who seemed to come in late at night.
I recomend the hotel to anyone needing to stay in Rome, plus there are a few restaurants in the area that were nice and not too expensive.
