We stayed at the Pineta Palace for three nights in July as it was part of a Cosmos tour. Unfortunately I think that my idea of a palace and their idea must be completely different.
The staff did not treat us like 'royalty' in fact they were almost indifferent to us. It was as though they thought, it's only a tour group they will be in and out in a few days anyway, why bother, and they didn't. They did not look happy in their jobs.
We only had one meal there which was just as well because I think that we got served special coach party food. We had some Gnnocchi, (in an effort to call it Italian cuisine), a crumbed chicken pattie, soggy veg, and for dessert a plate of fruit to divide up between a table of eight. Not what I would call Italian food. The only saving grace was that wine was included, it helped to fill a void.
The room were a good size and clean, however our bathroom had the largest hand basin in the world (slight exageration) great if you did want to do you smalls in the sink but it meant that the sink was located over the toilet. Hard to imagine and even harder to use especially if you suffer from a bad back or are larger than average size. My husband had to use the toilet locate downstairs.
It is a little out of the way but that is okay, To go into Rome we used the hotel shuttle, then coming back we used the metro system, which was very cheap but that then required a further 20 minute walk along a very busy road.
If I was an independant traveller I would not use this hotel again I would perhaps try and find something closer to the city.
