I have just arrived back after staying two days at the Claridge in Rome. The staff was extremely helpful in making arrangements for tours and a taxi to take me to the airport on the day I left. I did an On & Off Bus one afternoon in Rome and took a city bus #52 to the central city to get on. Everyone was very helpful in directing me to the correct locations. The hotel breakfast was absolutely great, fresh fruit, yogurt, rolls, toast, juice, cereal, eggs, meats & cheeses, Italian coffee is strong so I appreciated the machine. The cups are even kept in a warmer. The room is spotless and I wish I had a marble bathroom at home. The supermarket was a great place to get water etc. The hotel even had American style ice cubes!! I was very pleased and would stay there again.

Enjoyed the Claridge hotel. Liked the room with small balcony overlooking the back streets. It was clean, staff were helpful and relatively good location (though echo sentiments of other reviewers that Rome is not geared for tourists and so took a while to work out the tram system - its done by street name). Hotel did provide advice on most common sites. They also have tram tickets at reception. The whole day tickets go quickly though so be sure to ask early. Staff recommended good local restaurants and nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Rome. Enjoyed the park with Villa Borghese in it which is not far away from the hotel. Would recommend walking through there to get to centre (end up around Spanish Steps or Piazza Popolo though your feet will be sore by the end of the day. The negatives were the breakfast ok, but limited. The bar was pretty dead at night. The Pinot Grigio was awful! Overall, good value for money and relatively close to Rome city centre.
