I arranged to take my mum for her 70th Birthday (who walks with a walking stick) and daughter aged 23, to Rome last week as a special birthday week away. Not travelling alone before I was a bit usure as what to expect and have written this review to help others in the same situation. We stayed at the Condotti from 23rd - 27th June 09 and had a great time . I arranged the hotel private pick up (70 Euros)from Ciampino Airport (3 people) which could not have been smoother the gentleman greated us on arrival and was friendly and attentive to my mum. from the time that we arrived at the hotel the staff very excellent helping us arranging trips and booking taxi's etc. We had booked a tripple bedded room which was really nicely decorated but a little cramped, I mentioned this to the desk staff the following morning and they arranged for us to move into the Condotti Palace ( just a round the corner) for an extra 25 euros per night, this was spacious and perfect for all of us. The location is excellent with lots of restaurants and shops near by with a taxi rank at the top of the road. although the hotel does not have it's own restaurant there are lots of local restaurants within walking distance. The restaurant next to the main reception Al 24 is fantastic, all the locals eat there and the food is excellent especially the Lobster (well worth 25 euros) We visited the Colleseum, The Vatican , Sistine Chapel and the Basicilla, the tour bus is good value too, especially if you cannot walk too far.
We will definatly be returning to the hotel but will request to stay at the palace.
Make sure you take flat shoes as there are lots of cobbled streets!!
