I was especially impressed by the friendliness and helpfullness of the staff, first on the phone when we were calling from the US, and then in person when we arrived. The location is also about the best I could imagine. They are on a small side street just off of the Via Condotti, and a block from the Spanish Steps. That one block distance is wonderful, since you can walk out and be right in the heart of everything without the noise. The rooms and breakfast were both good. There are cafe's everywhere around.
If you are flying in, let them schedule yur airport pickup for you. We used their service to/from the airport, but had scheduled our own (more expensive) service for other trips. The service they used not only saved us money, but were far friendlier and pulled right up to the door. Our other service parked two blocks away and were surly. Don't even think about renting a car to drive into the historic section of Rome.
When we travel to Rome again, I will stay there again.

I had 3 nights of stay at the Condotti. You cant beat the location with Spanish Steps just around the corner with hotel located in a charming street next to Via Condotti. But the hotel is only a 3 star if you get their best rooms. I was awarded the infamous attick room (read reviews about this from someone else) and it is next to the elevtor machine room, which makes unbearable noises whenever the elevator operates. My room was very cold, so i had to use the heater fan which also adds to the noise. The bed have only blankets with sheets rapped around them. I hate that, and whilst being comfortable in summertime, it is not nice knowing that hundreds of people have used the same ones. Having leaning ceilings, and being a man, you cannot stand while showering. The free wireless hotspot does not reach this room. I had a look at a friends room on the third floor, and that looked much better. But everything is worn, fromt he early 90'ies i would expect. When i asked to swap rooms, i was offered one in the annex without windows, so i forgot about that and i plugged in my earplugs and put the pillow over my head to ride it out. Reception staff was always nice and freiendly, and thre is a wine bar/restaurant a few meeters down the street from the hotel with the most amazing wines by the glass and good food too.

We stayed for one night in July.
Staff were very nice, and lobby was small but very neat.
Room was average size, which is quite typical of Rome.
Very comfortable, and location was outstanding.
Breakfast was adequate, and everything was fresh.
If you only have a short time and want to be near the Spanish steps this is perfect.
Lovely wine bar next door with a large range of places to eat to suit every budget.
Do not forget via Condotti, when July is sale time! Bargains to be had.
Overall we would come back without hesitation, as we loved the location.

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel for two nights at the beginning of our trip, and booked it for two nights at the end. For both stays, we requested a room with a shower and two single beds. During the first booking we were given a very small room, but it was adequate and it had what we requested. At the end of our stay in Italy, we arrived at the Hotel Condotti and were given a converted attic room without a shower. We had to walk through dirty laundry on the stairs to get to our room. When we complained that the room was unacceptable, we were told it was too bad, they nothing else for us, and were charging us for the night. The staff was extremely rude and discourteous which was worse than the room itself. After much complaining were were offered another accomodation that was not acceptable to two women traveling alone. Therefore, we were forced to stay at least one night in the attic room, without the shower.

This is not a 3 star hotel, it' is more of a 1 star. It is not worth the location to have to endure rudeness when the hotel made an error. Stay somewhere else, even if it costs you a few more Euro.

Management response from Condotti, Rooms Division Manager
(Management representative)

Unfortunately, although we must always attempt to remain professional and courteous, we are all human beings and sometimes it may be that we let personal problems interfere with our work mood and perhaps even technical work problems interfere with the time and courtesy we should dedicate to guests. This may very well have been the case when you arrived for your second stay. As you can see from other reviews, this is not usually the case and I imagine that this was not the case however when you came to stay at the Hotel Condotti otherwise I am sure that you would not have returned for a second visit.

The reservation on both occasions was for a standard twin room. On both occasions you were accommodated in this room type. Hotel Condotti is located in the very historical centre of Rome. I am sure that you can imagine that old “palazzos” have a whole series of problems that perhaps a North American cannot comprehend. In Rome, almost all of the old buildings have a “mansard” or attic on the top floor. It is in fact a room with a low, sloped ceiling. We do have a room like this. Because of the type of the room, the ensuite bathroom has a bathtub with a hand held shower in the old Italian style, bidet, toilet and a hairdryer. The room looks over the local roof tops. It has two single beds, LCD TV with satellite reception and Pay per View movies, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, fully stocked minibar, safe and direct dial telephone. The room however is not reached by an elevator. Our elevator does not come all the way down to the ground floor nor does it go to the very top floor. We have a porter on duty for this purpose and in fact he did accompany the guests and their luggage to the room. I am certain that whomever books a Hotel in the historical centre of a city that is over 2700 years old has an idea that they will not find the space nor the newness of a North American building.

We have four small properties in the immediate vicinity and tthe Hotel Condotti acts as a central reception desk for all four. Different guests book in different properties with different rates and room types which we try our utmost to respect. When all of the properties are full it is never easy to move rooms – many families have more than one room which must stay together, many rooms are triple or quads and as such cannot be moved to double rooms etc. etc. etc. We are more that happy to change rooms in order to satisfy guests and we do fairly frequently but of course only when our room situation allows us to do so – often this can be done on the second day. You wereguests here during a weekend that we were fully booked so we had very little as an alternative to offer. What we did have as an alternative was a room at the AL 55 townhouse suite which was offered the next day and not accepted.

We do apologize for not meeting our usual standard of service and will do our utmost to improve in the future.

We stayed for 3 days in December in Hotel Condotti and loved it from the very first minute. Its excellent location, fantastic service and cosy rooms make it an ideal place for a weekend getaway. Think is a very good value for money, considering that it is a small, boutique style hotel (which we like) and a very good location. Francesca was always very helpful. Thank you for a fantastic weekend in Rome, will definitely return.
