We stayed for 3 nights at the Condotti recently while in Rome.

While not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, it was perfectly suitable to us for our first time in Rome - inexpensive (compared to most places in Rome) and clean.

However, the best part about the Hotel Condotti is its location - right next to the Spanish Steps (25 metres at most), in the heart of the exclusive shopping area of Rome. For this, it was perfect.

The staff were perfectly accomodating, even when, on the last morning, we had no water (not just no hot water, but no water at all). We were given a room in one of their other properties (around the corner - 2 min walk) and a 30% discount on the overnight rate.

2 things to note. If you are coming from the airport, it is 10 - 20 euro's cheaper to take a taxi, rather than booking their limousine service. Also, the rooms in their "other properties" are nicer - try to get an upgrade from the main hotel building.

Overall, a good place to stay. Would we stay there again in Rome? - yes, if we were after something cheap....no, if we were after something a little more romantic and special.

The rooms are nice but not luxurious, so the rack rate seemed pretty expensive to me. The last minute rates are better value for money. Some of the staff were helpful and others were not.

However, what really pissed me off was that my wedding ring was stolen from my room. I don't really know who was responsible, but at least some of the staff did not seem to fussed by this. Of course, I should not have left it in the room, but I was very disappointed to have it stolen.

Magically placed just a few steps away from the romantic piazza di Spagna. In the heart of Rome cant be more central. Apart from that ,not the best place to stay. Let me explain better: there is nothing really wrong with the hotel as the room was clean the personnel was kind and the bed comfortable; but personally i believe its overpriced and for the money it costs i was expecting it to be more luxurious rather than just basic. I suppose Rome is one of the most touristic cities in the world and that boosts up the prices. Only had breakfast in the hotel and found it pleasing but still not satisfactory. Rome is so beautiful and there are so many things to see and do that you are probably going to spend only the sleeping hours in the hotel . In that case Hotel Condotti is a CLEAN and tranquil-although extremely central little hotel to have a night rest.

In Rome we stayed at the Condotti Hotel just 100 M from the Spanish Steps. The main lobby in a converted palace has rooms upstairs. Its like a small "boutique" hotel but there are also buildings nearby that add more rooms. There is no dining room, but for breakfast, you go to a local bakery and show your key and everything is free. I liked that better than eating in a hotel dining room anyway. Sitting out on a cobblestone drive sipping expresso while Rome wakes up was truly an experience. Be careful though, not all of the rooms have been upgraded. Ask for the rooms on Via Della Croce next to Fioria Fiora restaurant. They are in a modern Italian style decorations. Dark tile floors, marble walled bathroom, latest fixtures, flatscreen TV. Very comfortable room. We stayed on the 4th floor and there was a small patio with 6 tables. No one knew it was there and every evening we would enjoy a bottle of wine while the dusk evolved. No panoramic views but seeing the colors of the other building change was nice.
The room was clean nicely furnished and very comfortable. The staff was helpful, especially Alex.
