As a first timer to Rome, I found it very confusing to know where to stay. Everything always sounds great! However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wanted to stay in the center of Rome, and after a lot of research, using Tripadvisor and other sites, I chose the Hotel Eliseo, which is at the top of Via Veneto.
The hotel was fabulous! The people at the front desk spoke English and were always very pleasant answereing any and all questions with lots of suggestions.
The room was large with a queen bed, bedside cabinets for storage, large wardrobe-closet with built-in drawers, in-room safe, desk, chair, sofa chair, very nice bathroom with shower, a/c, small refrigerator/bar and television.
The location was fantastic! It was no more than a 15 minute to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon. It was a little longer walk, but nonetheless, very easy and pleasant to the Colosseum. The Villa Borghese Gardens was just a few minutes away from the hotel. And if you not up for walking, there's a bus stop right across the street from the hotel.
The hotel has a very large and comfortable lobby. There's an "American Bar" for early evening drinks. There's plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas. There's a large television and also public Internet available for rent.
Hotel Eliseo has a great location and is in very good condition, but it's best feature is their breakfast room which is on the top floor of the hotel, i.e. their rooftop! You'll enjoy a lavish breakfast with lots to choose from while you have panoramic views of Roma!
What a great way to start the day! I loved having breakfast here and this feature combined with the location and other hotel amenities makes Hotel Elesio a winner!
