The only positive thing I can say about the Elite hotel is the two young ladies and young man working the front desk are nice. My room was very small, the bathroom tiny with antiquated plumbing (miniature bathtub only, about half the size of standard). The "bed" was a cot like thing with an old, worn out mattress. The place was filthy- ring around the bottom of the tub, bathroom smelled like urine the whole time, walls around bed filthy. Cleaning lady did not replace bathroom floor mat and towels. Also, bizarre sliding door thing in room that would not close, opened into mechanical area or something. Had I not prepaid as part of package, I would have walked and took my chances somewhere else, I almost did anyway. There are much, much nicer (or at least to western standard) rooms available in Rome at this price to choose from.

I booked this place through American Airlines, and what a rip! I paid $268.68 a nite, inclusive of taxes. American dollars. Had I paid $150 a nite, OK. I must admit that it was scrupulously clean, every day, and the location was great. You can easily walk to the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Borghese Gardens and Galleria, the four fountains corner in Rome. But. The rooms were small, and the decor was something out of early 50s B-flics. Especially the common room, which did have free internet. And we could call back to the States for 10cents a minute. Very dark, long hall, and the desk clerk at nite could not really speak any English. And the breakfast, whew! Nasty coffee with that milk offered that can stay on a shelf for months, just a few old pastries and rolls, horrible something that I guess was supposed to be juice. Just awful. I most definitely would not stay here again, at any price. Hotels in Rome are a dime a dozen.

This hotel is perfect placed and the staff was nice but is very very old and dark. Just to sleep and take a shower, nothing else.....It was not cheap (120€ per night), our room was very little, very dark (just a little window without sun) and with a very old furnitures.....

To say that this hotel is compact and bijou is an understatement - you could get from the door to the bathroom in 4 steps. The room was probably 8ft x 6.5ft. The bathroom was probably 8ft x 2ft !!! I have never seen a bath that small in all my life - hand held shower - hot water ran out after one shower !!!

But, the hotel was clean - the sheets were changed every other day - towels changed daily - breakfast was adequate but coffee to die for. Staff were lovely - very accomodating and extremely helpful. Front door closes at 11pm and you have to ring the bell but reception is manned 24hrs.

The hotel is very centrally located - 150m to the Spanish Steps and about 250m to the Trevi fountain.

altogether, you get what you pay for and after all it is 1 star but cleanliness was second to none - go and stay for one night just to say you have been there - the decor alone is worth it !!!!!
