“One of my favoite hotel stays”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 29, 2008

This Hotel is right off Piazza Barberini. Also a short walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain and the Santa Maria della Vittoria (church where you can see Bernini Ecstasy of St. Teresa).
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with directions or restaurants to go to. Our room was very nicely decorated, spacious and fully equiped with what we might need. Very clean, bathroom nicely stocked with shampoo, body wash etc. and I loved that it had a shower and a bath tub. It was also very quiet.
The breakfast area was also very classy/elegant and the waitress was also very friendly and spoke different languages. The had juices, breads and an assortment of cheeses, meats and frest fruit. They also had yogurt and choices of cereal and also scrabbled eggs and bacon if you wanted something hot. They would bring you fresh coffee of your choice or hot tea.
I would definitly come back and would recommend it to any one who is planning to go to Rome. Taxi's are also easily available near the Piazza in two places. This hotel truly made our trip more enjoyable.

“I'd stay there again, but...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2008

The hotel was nice, clean and in a good location. It's near a Metro stop and within walking distance of most of the good stuff. Also the tour buses stopped right outside. Be sure to visit the Cimitero Dei Cappuccini just around the corner. It's a church with an adjacent crypt FILLED with the ancient bones of former monks. In some cases the monks are mummified and stand, wearing their robes, in archways made of skulls and femurs. It's truly bizarre.

The hotel might have been hard to find, had I not printed out a detailed description of how to find it. Plus, I asked someone.

Breakfast was pretty good. The front desk people were very helpful in arranging tours and transportation to the airport for me.
I would stay there again for all those reasons.

But, the following are a few things that might play a part in *your* decision making:

-I had a single room. In this case, it meant a single bed which I'm not used to. I felt like I was going to fall out if I rolled over.

-no bath tub. TINY shower.

-heated towel rack was not heated.

-no robes

-large fee for internet

-housekeeping did NOT replenish toiletries and cups daily. I ran out of the cheap plastic cups and had to ask at the front desk for more. The front desk seemed hesitant to give me more, which I found strange. The cups are so cheap and brittle, that you need to be careful when unwrapping them from the plastic. They crack in half if they are squeezed.

-I also ran out of shampoo.

-There was another strange incident with housekeeping. The book I brought with me was missing one night. After much searching and accusations to the house keeping staff, and more searching, I found the book in the bedside table drawer. It was put there by the house keeping staff. I found that very strange.

-The soap supplied by the hotel had a very unpleasant smell. It was the kind of smell that one might have if they never used soap at all. I could not use it. Bring your own soap!

-the view was non existent. Most rooms will not have a good view.

“Loved the Barocco”

Stayed in Barocca apt. #10 next door, which faced the side street. Very quiet and clean. This place is in a great location. Look for the electro bus 116 around the corner to get around. The breakfast was good and the staff were great. I will stay here again on my next trip.

“We Really Liked the Barocco Hotel”

Loved the location of this hotel, also the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't very large but it had all the room we needed. The bath amenities were very good and we loved the fruit, fresh flowers, robes & slippers that were there. We highly recommend this hotel. We also had a small refrigerator, no balcony or view but we only paid 260EU per night.

“Barocco, Tutto Magnifico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2007

For service, setting, and amenities the Hotel Barocco is outstanding. Our room, #19, a suite on the first floor overlooking la Fontana Tritone in Piazza Barberini, was spacious, immaculate, well furnished, and quiet in spite of the traffic around the piazza. The location of the Barocco was central to all the Roman sights we planned to visit. The restaurants in the surrounding neighborhoods, recommended by the hotel concierges, were wonderful without exception. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious. But, the outstanding feature of the hotel, alluded to above, was the knowledge, efficiency, and friendliness of each concierge, no matter who was on duty. For first time visitors to Rome, as we were, they were indispensable. They were the key to our enjoyment in Rome.

We shall return.

  • Liked — Spacious comfort and high quality of concierge service.
  • Disliked — Internet connection, probably peculiar to the room.
