This 3 star hotel should have zero stars - dirty, run down and our room smelled like a sewer. I asked for a room change - it stank of cigarette smoke so we stayed in the sewer. The front desk staff just gave us a blank stare. The location was good - walking distance to central rome - but I would stay below the Piazza di Spagna to avoid the steps.

My husband and I had a 2 night stay at the Sistina and we would never stay there again. We cannot believe that they claim to be a 4 star hotel, 2 star is probably more like it. The hotel is old world which is lovely but it is very run down, in immediate need of TLC. The constant smell of smoke in the hotel used to make me sick. I could smell the smoke in our room, on the second floor, first thing in the morning.
The breakfast was a terrible experience. Food not fresh and breakfast area not clean. The juices used to make me sick just looking at them, they looked very cloudy and weren't replaced daily.
Bocconcini were soft and slimy and cold meats not fresh.
Pastries were kept in a warmer and I couldn't understand why as the italian pastries are amazing and delicious when eaten fresh. I worked out that the pastries used were ones from the supermarket sold in packs of six. They can't even serve fresh pastries???? The coffee is the worst I've ever had and I actually couldn't drink it.
Front desk staff were okay but they need to give up smoking outside the front door as the smell travels through the whole hotel.
Amazing location but not enough to make us forget the rest.

Stayed in this hotel for one week in January - very pleasant stay. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The room was a bit on the small side, but clean and with a large tiled bathroom. Walls seemed rather thin, you could hear the drains running in the room next door, but fortunately this hotel attracts a "calm", quiet clientele.
Breakfast was quite nice, too. Excellent location for walking to most sites, near metro and bus routes.

I am very disappointed with the stay in this hotel.
Air conditioning not functioning, unproffessional staff and as you walked from reception to lift-there was a damp odour.
Hotel is not a four star.
