Great location, excellent breakfast and friendly staff couldn't have asked for more.
Very good location. Easy walk to subway and most of the popular sites. Free breakfast had good quality food and lots of variety. Room was small but very clean, 80s decor. Biggest complaint is that room had no window whatsoever.
I loved this hotel. I love going on city breaks and never spend any time in a hotel other than to sleep.
On this trip to Rome, I went with my mum and we got an excellent deal on this hotel via lastminute.com (I have noticed that their rates have climbed a little since we went last year).
The Valadier is very 'Italian' - lots of mirrors and black marble. It also has a fabulously Roman history - was both a convent and a brothel before becoming a hotel!
We found all the staff to be both patient and very helpful - we hate the idea of going abroad and making no effort to learn or speak the language - on the occaisions where our meagre Italian couldn't suffice, the staff spoke and understood English well.
As you will have read the hotel is small - in our bath I could only sit up and my legs couldn't stretch out - but I showered comfortably!
We found the entire hotel to be scrupulously clean and the location is absolutely second to none.
If I was going back with a tall male companion I don't think he would be happy - but my mum and I can't wait to take my sister to both Rome and The Valadier!
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Valadier for 2 nites. The hotel is in a great location, very close to Flaminio station, walking distance to the Spanish Steps and we even walked all the way to the Colosseum. The hotel rooms are small but this is Europe and you can not expect US sized rooms. It was plenty big for the two of us. It's a charming hotel, in a safe neighborhood, hotel staff was good and the buffet breakfast included in the hotel rate was good. Great Coffee too! I took the train from the Rome airport and then took the metro to Flaminio station, total cost was 12 Euros and took about an hour. My husband took a taxi and it cost 60 euros. You have to pay for internet service which was a drag but at least it was available.
Be prepared for a tiny room, staff that take advantage of those who don't speak Italian and an AC that spits out hot air. The taxi called to the airport was owned by the hotel. He dropped us off at the wrong terminal almost causing us to miss our flight. Terrible value for the extraordinary price.
