dirty rooms, broken showers, mold everywhere, cuted nails on tile floor, thin bed sheets with holes, terrible food and rude workers.
We stayed there 7 days and that was our worst hotel where we stayed. We travel all over Europe and US but what we founf here is not acceptable at all. I wish to take some photos of 4 rooms thay showed to us. None of them was good and cleann. All of them had broken showers, toilets, same bed sheets. If you would like to remember your trip to such amazing citi as Rome make sure you will not stay in this hotel.

I travelled to Rome with my boyfriend two weeks ago. As a matter of fact, after searching for a long time on the internet and reading a number of reviews we booked a room at Welcome Piram Hotel in Rome through hotels.com. The hotel got some controversial reviews but the overall grade was 8 or 10 so we thought we'd give it a try, especially because we only needed a room for 2 nights and it was easy to reach from the railway station. Upon arriving, we saw a couple and a mother and a son checking in in a completely regular way. When our turn came and we showed our reservations, all of a sudden we were told that there are problems with the rooms because of some renovation works and we will be sent to another hotel around the corner. This turned out to be hotel Nizza. I will not repeat everything written by the previous reviewers but yes, it is true: an old, filthy, run-down, stinky place in which we were given room 150 on the ground floor. The door would hardly close, the light was almost non existing, there was a huge hole in the ceiling as if a slate missing, the bed linen had a hole, the double bed had 2 matresses which did not match in height, the "pillows" were max. 0,5 cm high, there was mold in the corner of the bath tub, the we did not dare use blankets and froze at night, because there were so disgusting (and so was the bed cover), the toilet seat was so old, the flush button broken and....there was no hot water when we arrived. The receptionist sent for someone to have a look at it and we went out straight to Piyram Hotel to complain and demand that we be taken there as we saw other people checking in or at least to accept us on the following day. I must say that the receptionist there behaved like a semi-retarded, pretending not to understand simple questions in English like "What kind of problems is there with the rooms?" or "Why can't we stay here?". From behind the key shelf another one from the staff was telling her in Italian to send us away and there is no free place. We were already thinking of calling the police but...maybe that would have worked in some other country. Since we had already payed and we saw that there was no way out we decided to continue our city trip and to return to the "room" as late as possible and if possible drunk so as not to see all the disgusting things around. The room was not cleaned, there were no new towels brought (even the one for the feet was taken), no new shower gel or soaps, the breakfast was also terrible - completely poor in choice and taste. According to the receptionist, this wonderful room was supposed to cost only 100 Euro...

Please stay far from this hotel and those crooks there and should you be redirected from some other hotel in Rome to there, don't make our mistake and don't go but demand something better or your money back.

The only good thing here is the location which is excellent for the station. The hotel stank of cigarettes, the walls were absolutely filthy as were the curtains and furniture. The staff generally were friendly - but service was bizzare and had to be requested at the bar. We didnt go for breakfast it was so dirty. The room was actually quite comfortable although not clean (sheets were fresh though) The bathroom was the pits!

Now if a professional hotel chain got hold of this, they could for probably not too much money make this into quite a nice hotel there are some elegant features and the odd antique - but its a filthy hole at the moment
I should say, there is a smashing little restaurant across the road.

Where to start.....my wife and I were on honeymoon in Amalfi and were flying out of Rome so decided to book our last night in Rome for convenience. We booked online for one night at the Hotel Europa, a sister hotel of Hotel Nizza, and on arrival we were told by the receptionist at Hotel Europa that we were staying at Hotel Nizza and she then proceeded to give us directions to Hotel Nizza without explaining why we could not stay at the hotel we had booked. I questioned this as we had clearly booked Hotel Europa and there was nothing in the Terms and Conditions stating that they could transfer us to another hotel. The receptionist said she did not know why we had to go to a different hotel and only when pushed she went to discuss with a colleague, whereupon she returned and explained that Hotel Europa was full. Then why did their website accept further bookings?

So we trudged across Rome with our luggage to Hotel Nizza, which looked a bit shabby from outside and in the main reception, but we were tired and just wanted to get out and enjoy the last night of our honeymoon in Rome so we agreed to stay at Hotel Nizza, and the receptionist demanded payment upfront. We questioned this as we had given our credit card information when we booked Hotel Europa online. The receptionist assured us that we would not be double charged and stated that we were getting a bargain paying €68 for a room at Hotel Nizza as they normally charge €170. So we were pleased with this, if a little dubious, and he gave us the key to our room. It subsequently transpired that this was a complete lie, as looking at the Hotel Nizza website, the most expensive room on offer was around €80.

When we got to our room, not only was it the pokiest, shabbiest hotel room I have ever seen - it had also not been cleaned since the previous guests had left. So i returned to reception to remonstrate with the receptionist, and I told him we were not staying at the hotel and I asked for a refund of the cash paid in advance.

Firstly, the receptionist assured us that there is no way we would find a room at another hotel as they would all be fully booked on the Saturday night we were there. Whilst debating this, he sent someone up to clean the room.

I said that I would take my chances finding a hotel elsewhere, and that I really didn't want to spend the last day of my honeymoon in Hotel Nizza, and asked again for my money back. The receptionist said that it was not possible to give a refund on Saturdays because the administration team did not work on weekends, and we could not therefore obtain a refund until Monday. Now, I am no expert on credit card machines, but we disputed this at the time as being complete nonsense - if he can take a payment on Saturday he can also issue a refund. We have subsequently spoken to a number of other people who have confirmed that his assertion was absloute nonsense.

So I left my wife in reception whilst the room was being cleaned and went off to another hotel at which we had stayed previously in Rome - Hotel Oceania, just around the corner and contrary to the receptionist's nonsensical ramblings we managed to get a room at Hotel Oceania no problem.

I then returned to Hotel Nizza to collect my wife and explained to the receptionist one last time that we were not staying at Hotel Nizza and that i wanted my money back. He maintained that a refund could not be given until Monday, and I said that was no problem, I would wait for the money back so instructed him to refund the money on Monday. He said that he would do this.

When we returned to England on Sunday, I emailed Hotel Nizza reminding them to issue the refund, and six weeks down the line, several emails and telephone calls later I have still not had my money back.

Hotel Nizza have offered me a free night's stay as compensation - which is laughable as it is a ghastly hotel which would be my last choice of a place to sleep, and it would involve travelling to Italy again to take up their offer!! So whilst, they have basically admitted they owe me, they still refuse to issue the refund and when I threatened them that I would take the issue further they accused me of blackmail and refused to discuss the matter further.

I await a detailed response from them as to:

1) Why their receptionist lied and told us that his machine could not issue refunds;

2) Why the receptionist lied and told us that he would issue the refund on Monday;

3) Why the receptionist lied and said that all other hotels in Rome would be fully booked; and

4) Why the receptionist lied about the real cost of the Hotel Nizza rooms.

They refuse to answer these questions, hence the reason I have decided to leave this review. Normally, I would not leave feedback on these sites, but felt it my duty in this case, as the lack of service received from Hotel Nizza is shocking and I would really like to prevent other people from visiting (assuming all the other poor reviews on this site do not do the trick!!)

I urge everyone reading this site to boycott the hotel which is shabby and completely lacks service quality. The only thing I can't fault the hotel on is location, as it is very convenient for the train station and local eateries - but there are many much nicer hotels in the area surrounding Hotel Nizza. I can highly recommend the Hotel Oceania which is twice as expensive but infinitely nicer!!

We were off to Italy for some leisure time...me and my family that is. My dad booked this hotel after looking at the pictures, which admittedly make it look quite elegant. Upon arriving it was nothing like it looked like. Dreary, grey and just plain gross. My family of five (dad, mom, and two brothers and me) were put in this room with uncomfortable beds; one single, one double and a bunk bed. We tried to find parking for our van, but they told us to park somewhere blocks away with minimal security. I should mention that the hotel is in a shady part of town, and we left the hotel to grab our suitcases only to find that the main door to our hotel was locked and basically we had to wait outside (with other tourists locked out) until the only employ in the building would hear our knocks and open the door. Obviously not safe in that part of Rome. When this happened we were ready to bolt. The man at the desk was rude and non-caring, we couldn't get our money back, but we wanted to leave, so badly that after a while we just gave up and left. Terrible place...do not go there. The pictures are incredibly misleading...
