If you're reading this Trip Advisor Review for the Hotel Borromini, it must be because you found a room at a good price,...but charm, decor or location were not criteria for you when picking a hotel room!
Despite the hotel website photos, the Hotel Borromini is a hotel of no great distinction. As many hotel owners do, the owners of the Borromini spent a few more dollars decorating the lobby and the dining area than they did in the rooms...and they employed the benefit of hiring a good photographer with VERY wide angle lens to try to make the hotel more illustrious than it is.
The hotel rooms...are simply rooms. No one spent five minutes thinking about decor or design. There's a bed, a nightstand, a desk, some lamps, and other than this, not a distinctive bit of design or whimsy that can elevate a hotel room. After two days, we couldn't wait to leave. Actually, after five minutes we couldn't wait to leave...but we just happened to have booked the room for two days!
And it's not as if the hotel is a charming mediocre hotel in a bristling exciting area! (i.e like booking a medicore hotel right in the heart of St. Germain in Paris). No. When you walk out of the hotel, you are in a residential neighborhood. No charming cafes on the corner, no wonderful little antique stores... Nope. Nothing. Just a dull residential neighborhood with tall trees that darken the mood. You can walk about five blocks to the next closest cafe street...but even then, your choices are limited.
And the breakfast "buffet..." Haha. I think the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay get offered a more diverse and interesting breakfast. Edible? Certainly? Enjoyable? Haha.
Stay here if you get a great price...otherwise....ignore the website photos that portray a hotel with more charm than it really offers....and...keep looking.
