i usually travel numerous times a year with friends and my responsabilty is to choose the hotels;but i made a big mistake but choosing this one .let me start by telling you that italians are not friendly at all, hotel staff was rude, never seen them smiling.
the hotel is so out the way,it takes a while to get to city center and to the main attractions in rome.i booked this hotel through priceline but don't make the same mistake, you better off booking a hotel in city center close to the attactions.
stay in rome for two days is more than enough time.there is a lot to see in other parts of italy, don't waste too much time in rome.
italians they were not friendly with tourists and they have terrible attitude.
the room at the hotel was small,it smell like cigarrette and mold ,very simple and is like a cheap motel room, definetely this hotel is no...way...a four star hotel as priceline describedit, seems more like a two stars. also there are not too many restaurants choices nearby.definitely i would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Got the hotel through Priceline as a 4 star, and no way this should be labeled as such!

Old and worn out interior, uncomfortable beds, rude (well they are Italian) personnel and out-of-the-city location.

Not recommended. Not going back.

If you're reading this Trip Advisor Review for the Hotel Borromini, it must be because you found a room at a good price,...but charm, decor or location were not criteria for you when picking a hotel room!

Despite the hotel website photos, the Hotel Borromini is a hotel of no great distinction. As many hotel owners do, the owners of the Borromini spent a few more dollars decorating the lobby and the dining area than they did in the rooms...and they employed the benefit of hiring a good photographer with VERY wide angle lens to try to make the hotel more illustrious than it is.

The hotel rooms...are simply rooms. No one spent five minutes thinking about decor or design. There's a bed, a nightstand, a desk, some lamps, and other than this, not a distinctive bit of design or whimsy that can elevate a hotel room. After two days, we couldn't wait to leave. Actually, after five minutes we couldn't wait to leave...but we just happened to have booked the room for two days!

And it's not as if the hotel is a charming mediocre hotel in a bristling exciting area! (i.e like booking a medicore hotel right in the heart of St. Germain in Paris). No. When you walk out of the hotel, you are in a residential neighborhood. No charming cafes on the corner, no wonderful little antique stores... Nope. Nothing. Just a dull residential neighborhood with tall trees that darken the mood. You can walk about five blocks to the next closest cafe street...but even then, your choices are limited.

And the breakfast "buffet..." Haha. I think the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay get offered a more diverse and interesting breakfast. Edible? Certainly? Enjoyable? Haha.

Stay here if you get a great price...otherwise....ignore the website photos that portray a hotel with more charm than it really offers....and...keep looking.

We thought the Borromini was great. My fiance and I traveled to Rome from Vermont for Christmas week. Admittedly, I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews; however, we found the Borromini to be in a fine location (we're walkers and hikers), very close to the Villa Borghese, which makes for a lovely walk to/from sites, with very nice staff and accomodations. They had a great American style buffet breakfast with eggs cooked to order, meats, cereals, yogurts, fruits, juices, coffee, etc. The breakfast was $12 Euros, but hey, in Rome, for all-you-can-eat, that's a bargain. A two minute walk to a bus or tram stop will take you anywhere in the city you want to go. At the nearest piazza (where the bus/tram stops are located) there was a lovely little cafe that had very reasonable food, so we ate dinner there frequently on our way back to the room after a day out. The room itself was neat, clean, and the location of the hotel itself was residential - quiet and nice. They even gave us a surprise bottle of champagne for my fiance's birthday - and it was really good too! Its true that the Borromini is somwhat removed from the "center" of Rome, but then again, there is so much to see all over Rome, the city didn't seem too large/overwhelming, all within walking distance, and the price was right ($150 night), that we thought it was well worth it, and we'd definitely stay there again!

The hotel is lovely (clean room, large comfy bed, lovely bathroom) and although a little out of the centre there is plenty of good and frequent public transport to get you out and about. Be prepared to use it if you want to eat good Italian food! The hotel "restuarant" is lacking in atmosphere (can't comment on the food) and the local restaurants are not up to par (Rossini restaurant bits of meat found in mushroom Risotto and local cafe staff in Piazza Ungheria very rude and unhelpful. Both overpriced for the quality given). Hotel staff friendly if you make the effort to chat. My top tip for eating is Le Mani in Pasta in Trastevere (via de Genovesi) - well worth the effort, also for pizza, make the (small) effort to go into the centre and go to Gusto (Piazza Augusto Imperatore), but get there early for a table.............wanna make a long night of it? Try some antipasti at Enoteca Antica (via della croce)... lovely wine, lovely range of antipasti, lovely atmosphere.....enjoy!
